Which 3 artists do you love that often cause eye rolls by the cool kids? Some call them guilty pleasures, pop tarts, esoteric nonsense and so on. K-Pop? One Hit Wonders? Obscure nobodies? Offer up 3 names and at least one album or song to check out for those curious.
I'll go first.
1. Wang Chung (love their soundtrack to Live and Die in LA, it's a late 80's time machine).
2. The Rembrandts (Any of their first 3 albums, The Rembrandts, Untitled and LP. I will say they ALSO have one of my least favorite songs which is a big part of what broke them up: The Friends Theme "I'll be there for you.")
3. Howard Jones (I like most of his prime albums, and also a later Solo Piano restaging of his hits, but if I had to pick one, it would be Dream Into Action. An underappreciated solo pop artist in my view).
I can't wait to read and hear your lists!

Well I'm an 80's kid , the cool kids were listening to and watching MTV, I was looking to the 60s for inspiration.
I always have a hard time explaining why I like the ramones. Such simple music Nothing you would aspire to play as a musician, but they make me feel good. Considered the fathers of punk rock, I've never heard any anger or darkness in their music, always fun, pure energy rock, catchy tunes. Pick me up music. But I'm 52 and I like this music...lol
I like many one hit wonders .... The easy beats...Friday on my mind, I like tommy tutone 8675309, I like more than this by Roxy Music. Jessies Girl Rick Springfield.
But I guess bands, the Ramones even though most dont understand why.
Sometimes you have to forget everything and just listen . when I do, I'm usually listening to the ramones. Very influential in this genre too.
Which Way You Going Billy? by The Poppy Family, a Canadian duo (Twerry & Suzan Jacks) and group from the late 60s. Cool kids thought it sappy...I thought it was a great song but the "cool kids" were into the Stones & other stuff
When I was really young like 9-10-11 I liked air supply, sweet...fox on the run ....., Bay city rollers, all that corny chit. Then somebody turned me on to kiss that lasted a while.
But truth be told, I still like those groups. I just don't tell nobody.
Yeah really, you guys gonna stand there and tell the forum that you don't like Blondie, or Duran Duran, or Mr together forever...Rick Astley? Not buying it. You can't not sing...never gonna give you up.....
Ok, I might be shocked if you like Culture Club...
I liked bubblegum music, so I guess the three groups would be Ohio Express, 1910 Fruitgum Company, and I forget the other. I don’t even know if they were real (touring) groups, formed by kesenetz-Katz. Well, I even liked this song: Quick Joey Small.
I mean, where is Snoopy vs The Red Baron? And Simon Says???? Definitely agree with you that Quick Joey Small going over the wall is a great 2 minute or so time waster

With classic rock and popular music, Air Supply and Leo Sayer are the most sticky and gooee. But they have done some effective hard rock, the occasion that they have. The most cringe inducing though have been from these so called alternative pop acts. But I have a guilty pleasure for some of that.
Tommy James lived near me for the longest time, next town over in the rich section . his songs have been widely covered. Big hits, crimson and clover, I think were alone now, mony mony,
He is/was the real deal, wrong thread to mention him

Culture Club, sure, in some cases. But NEVER Rick Astley! NEVER!
