Trying to get back to my roots https://soundcloud.com/user-944741980/looking-for-an-anchor-8Looking For An Anchor V1 I need to taste the sea I need to taste the sea I need to be in a place Where I can taste the sea And I've got to walk the shore Looking for an anchor Yeah, looking for an anchor V2 I need to feel the breeze I need to feel the breeze It can almost bring me to my knees When I feel the breeze As I walk along the shore Looking for an anchor X2 Chorus There was something wrong There was always something wrong I I could feel it Yes I could feel it I always knew there was something wrong There was always something wrong I wasn't where I belonged no, no, no, no I wasn't where I belonged Now I've got to get back home It's been way too long Away too long Solo (over chorus) V3 I need to see the waves I need to see the waves I've got to hear that thundering sound I need to see the pounding waves As I walk along the shore Looking for an anchor X2 B I talked to my heart Talked to my soul Said it’s time for us to go Back to the place The only place The only place The only place we know V4 Now I can taste the sea And I can feel the breeze And I hear the pounding waves They were waiting there to set me free As I walk along the shore Looking for an anchor As I walk along the shore Looking for an anchor Looking for an anchor Looking for an anchor Looking for an anchor Looking for an anchor Copyright © Steven McDonald 2020

Thank you for your comments. They are most appreciated. Cutting this down for pitching shouldn't be too hard. This has a West Coast Swing feel to it. I used to be known on this site about 15 years ago as VNorth.

Thank you for your comments. I have been working with a fellow who owns an electronic studio in Berwick, Nova Scotia, for ten years. At age 73, it keeps me going. We've done 40 songs so far. H e is a big part of producing the sound and feel.

I'm not really looking for an anchor. I have lived most of my life next to a large body of water, The Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean and Lake Ontario. For some reason they were my anchors in my life. So the anchor is really a metaphor for something I need, almost to survive. When I have not been next to the water, there was always something wrong, something missing. One could then interpret the last verse to actually meaning looking for a real anchor because I am now back to what is important to me, allowing me to walk the shore looking for an anchor.

"If one man can do it, any man can do it. It is true. But the real question is, if one man did it, are you willing to do what it takes to do it as well?" –Brian Austin Whitney
