Trying to get back to my roots https://soundclick.com/r/s8ianpLooking For An Anchor I need to taste the sea I need to taste the sea I need to be in a place Where I can taste the sea And I've got to walk the shore Looking for an anchor Yeah, looking for an anchor I need to feel the breeze I need to feel the breeze It can almost bring me to my knees When I feel the breeze As I walk along the shore Looking for an anchor Yeah, Looking for an anchor There was something wrong There was always something wrong Yeah, I could feel it Yes I could feel it I always knew there was something wrong There was always something wrong I wasn't where I belonged no, no, no, no I wasn't where I belonged Now I've got to get back home It's been way too long Away too long I need to see the waves I need to see the waves I've got to hear the thundering sound I need to see the pounding waves As I walk along the shore Looking for an anchor Yeah, Looking for an anchor Talked to my heart Talked to my soul Said its time for us to go Back to the place The only place The only place The only place we know Now I can taste the sea And I can feel the breeze And I hear the pounding waves They were waiting there to set me free As I walk along the shore Looking for an anchor As I walk along the shore Looking for an anchor Looking for an anchor Looking for an anchor Looking for an anchor Looking for an anchor Copyright Steven McDonald 2020

Vnorth2,
Very nice! Loved the Bluesy/Pop vibe along with some great melody chord progressions--cool arrangement/expressive vocals too. No nits, for pitching, you might want to shorten it to at least 3:45. Song makes you want to get up and dance! Are you related to Vnorth1?

Thank you for your comments. They are most appreciated. Cutting this down for pitching shouldn't be too hard. This has a West Coast Swing feel to it. I used to be known on this site about 15 years ago as VNorth.

Great groove! Great sound! Lyrics seem to be a little contradictory though lol. Why are you looking for an anchor?

Thank you for your comments. I have been working with a fellow who owns an electronic studio in Berwick, Nova Scotia, for ten years. At age 73, it keeps me going. We've done 40 songs so far. H e is a big part of producing the sound and feel.

I'm not really looking for an anchor. I have lived most of my life next to a large body of water, The Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean and Lake Ontario. For some reason they were my anchors in my life. So the anchor is really a metaphor for something I need, almost to survive. When I have not been next to the water, there was always something wrong, something missing. One could then interpret the last verse to actually meaning looking for a real anchor because I am now back to what is important to me, allowing me to walk the shore looking for an anchor.

EVERYBODY NEEDS AN ANCHOR--
Many times in my life I thought I'd found my anchor, to later find I was slowly drifting away-- still wondering what the HELL'S happened? I guess my anchor would be Music Related---without Music I feel unattached and drifting away!
Good luck with your ANCHOR!
