For awhile now, many months in fact, the private message icon has been flashing for me, even though stuff has been read. Got rid of a bunch of them, but some PMs have exchanges and collabs I want to keep, at least if I can. I thought it should only flash if there was an unread PM waiting...at least that is what it used to do
Any way to cure that??

Historically that has been a local cache/restart/browser issue. It could also be a cookie issue where it isn't being allowed to update to keep your place (i.e. what you have read, which posts are new since your last visit etc. and so on). There are often changes with Google which come without warning and they've been fiddling with cookies this year like crazy. You could delete yours (make sure you know your password first) and see if that updates. My only fear would be ever getting the cookie back with Google changing the rules. We do zero tracking of any kind. All our cookie does is simply keep your spot and password for 1 year before you have to re-log in. Nothing more.
Which browser are you using? If you are all Apple/No Google, that would be helpful info, though it wouldn't change my suggestion. Google is almost always the cause of these issues.

Have you tried clearing your cache via the "Clear History" option? I often have to clear the cache when working/updating web pages. I haven't seen your issue, but clearing the cache might be a good idea.

Try clearing your cookie. Search for either justplainfolks.org or jpfolks.com in your cookies which are listed alphabetically and then come back and log in. You could even simply log out then back in first to see if that works.

Weird, I get messages almost every day and have only had issue when I haven't restarted. No programming has changed, but we did have our site down today due to an issue at our host company. They said it was fixed. But that just happened so wouldn't apply to most of you. I can ask the tech guy but a single question requires a half hour minimum at $150 an hour. Very frustrating, but if we have to use him for something else I will ask him to look into that. Our funds are quite limited and a new year of hosting is due in January.

For a couple days I haven't been able to access the site unless I google and come in that way. The browser finishes for me as soon as I type in www.j but when I click it gives me http://www.justplainfolks.org/ an Oops! message. OOPS - SOMETHING WENT WRONG! Why am I seeing this page? Actually it has always been both Kevin, they had a tech issue which took the site down and they fixed it, but it seems you've just alerted me to the fact they have disconnected our justplainfolks.oirg link. It's always something guys. It really is unfortunate.
Folks, if you find issues like this, please send me a direct note via a pm or my email which is linked to my account. If any mod doesn't have my contact info, please let me know.

I am an infrequent poster. I assume the flashing is because it was not properly dispatched. Kind of like emails clogging up.
