Alex Trebek ©2020 Robert George
The April streets are empty Stores are quiet and stark There are no laughing kids, With baseballs and mitts Playing in the park No vendors on the sidewalk While I’m walking my dog Just birds in budding trees, As I talk to the breeze In a lonely dialogue
But as I climb these dusty stairs I don’t lose faith…I don’t despair And it’s not cable news, That gets me through Or a government check No, what gives me hope And helps me cope Is just watching Alex Trebek
It’s things I took for granted That help me through my day My old dog in my lap, A cheddar cheese wrap And a cup of Nescafe For in a time of crisis Men will question the sky But I fight my doubts and fears, Cos if Alex perseveres Then, with God’s grace, so can I
[b]Now, as I ease back in my chair I won’t lose faith…I won’t despair And it’s not cable news, That gets me through Or a government check No, what gives me hope And helps me cope Is just watching Alex Trebek Watching Alex Trebek
Making do with less Is the greatest thing that I possess And when confusion is all that I see It’s the simple things that comfort me
So, as I sit back in my chair I won’t lose faith…I won’t despair And it’s not cable news, That gets me through Or a government check No, what gives me hope And helps me cope Is just watching Alex Trebek Watching Alex Trebek…

Well done. My mother did two things religiously, church everyday and watched Jeopardy.
I agree, staples like that bring us a sense of normalcy, for me it's baseball, that every day expectation of it being on is hypnotic.
Works today and tommorow, might be a nice tribute when he finally walks off.
Good to see you have a soul.
