An open mic experiment...

https://www.soundclick.com/music/songInfo.cfm?songID=14143348

Less than perfect, yes I know
Not much to show
Gleaning meaning of timeless reading
Wisdom’s afterglow
Like an apple for example
Or the worm within
Forbidden fruit is tainted truth
No man without sin

Judging me, blaming you
Hypocrites all
Heated vows and furrowed brows
Still… comes the fall
Less than perfect, yes I know
Damned all the same
Blinded eyes and selfish pride
All of us to blame

A timeless melody
Of unbroken wisdom
Words by which we prosper
A mirror for the soul
We are all forgiven
That’s all I have to offer….....

Tireless tongues yammering guile
Voices all resound
Woman’s vanity and man’s pride
Know no bounds
All that’s spoken by spirits broken
Can’t be unheard
History now holds to account
Every uttered word

A timeless melody
Of unbroken wisdom
Words by which we prosper
A mirror for the soul
We are all forgiven
That’s all I have to offer….....

Great sound. I love those bells, or whatever they are. Melodically it's a bit monotonous. The lyrics are typical JAPOV, short lines with no verbal padding. I worry that their obscurity combined with that monotonous melody might fail to hold the listener's attention. especially for over 5 minutes. I kept expecting it to develop into something more.

Yea', not putting a whole lot of effort into this was actually the whole point lol. This is just a phone recording that I ran through LogicX... I don't think it's half bad for a really quick and easy rough draft recording smile

Great vocal and hypnotic backing track.
Also like the cryptic lyrics.
It is a bit repetitive - would be nice to throw in a change-up here and there.and a consistent melody for a chorus
Nice work grin

Japov,

This is extremely unique and cool. I like the raw live feel as well--works great with this vibe. Fab lyrics as well--a song to listen to when in a pensive mood for sure given the length. I get that you don't insert a break of any kind here with this song--it has an Americana/blues/Native American feel that begins and hammers on and on! You would lose that effect if there were breaks and it would feel too fragmented I think........That IMO works very well with these lyrics. No question these type of songs are best received from someone who is already famous and can throw them in their LP and get away with it and capture their fans with a unique breaking song--Beatles were stellar at this.

Cool sound for any era!

Hypnotic is actually a good word lol. If I don't record it real quick with my phone I forget it. If I forget it then I can't change it up lol. smile
Thanks Paul

Thanks Eddie! After hearing it a few times myself now, I think I'm leaning more toward some kind of crescendo than than throwing more chords at it. I like the simplicity of it too, but... If I had more range in my voice I would probably think differently lol smile

Hi JAPOV
I don't mind a dirge as long as the lyric says something or leads somewhere.
The lyrics are cyriptic certainly, ambiguos but I liked them.
I just think the melody is in need of kick to keep the listeners interest.
Regards
John

I am going to take the easy way out and agree with all that has gone before me. I found it intriguing. smile
