This is my most recent song. I have never really written about current events and how they are processed by me, but this seemed to come out. This was also written for a prompt for my songwriting group that I co-run to have a "number" in the title (that being "one"). I do enjoy writing and singing sad things, but hopefully you can relate to something in it. ONE MOMENT OF PEACE on SoundCloudOne Moment of Peace by Tammy Jann © 2020 When the darkness of the world starts to bleed the news makers come crawling out to feed and the cycle begins, the air's filled with pain click through the channels again and again while you're left to figure this out alone trapped in the walls that are your home buried your smile while your thunderstruck eyes reflect your need for love that's so hard to find chorus you're missing the touch of a caring hand talking to someone who understands your mind is melting your heart is lost saving yourself comes with a cost you'd risk it all when the world's a fierce beast to find someone to hold for one moment of peace It should be quiet when the world's in hiding but Death's mind roars while he's deciding the tension turns your soul to weeping why is it so loud when everyone's sleeping It plays like a movie in the back of your mind you struggle to find ways to unwind isolated with fear as your only friend looking for a way to make it all end chorus you're missing the touch of a caring hand talking to someone who understands your mind is melting your heart is lost saving yourself comes with a cost you'd risk it all when the world's a fierce beast to find someone to hold for one moment of peace Outro when you dig down deep in every breath you breathe you'll find your peace

Hi Tammy. I love the "thunderstruck eyes". Also the way the chorus kicks in is a thrill. Lovely.

Some heavy lyrics in this one. Love those Joni Mitchell runs, for lack of a better word...
Was gonna say the long verses work okay for 1st round, but second maybe go to CHORUS after only half of that...But, there is a message to this tune & that would not tie your tune up in a bow as currently constructed.
No need to cut time on this, as it would affect the art of it......I rarely say that
I enjoyed it

Hi Tams....a beautiful song.....and a superb production. Your singing is stellar. A beautiful, bluesy atmosphere here. Really love the lyrics, too. Nice to hear from you. -Tom

Finally had time to give this thought provoking song a listen, Tams:
I didn't think Joni Mitchell could "hold a candle" to what you've done with this emotional and edgy song. Don't get me wrong... she would have done you proud... but your vocals just keep getting better and better. Enjoyed every line of this thoughtful song. Best wishes for success.

Damn it girl you're a rock star... A touching write and such a beautiful arrangement, with the verses simply dripping with emotion. Still love your vocal arrangement and performances. U rOcK

Hi Tammy, Very well written and performed. I love the way the intensity goes in and out in the verses, and the entry into the chorus. Thanks for sharing!

Tams,
Another post that I’m not sure how I missed. Another strong tune from you—wonderful lines throughout. Really like the tempo shift in that chorus . . . and your usual terrific vocal. Good stuff!
All my best,
Deej

Wow Tammy,
The song really pulls you in! I'd have to re-listen to even think about critiquing it. Enough said. Beautiful vocals, nice chord progressions and loved the chorus tempo change with this lonely vibe--great contrast and no need for a bridge.
