Reminiscing about the innocence of days gone by, if indeed it ever was.

DREAMSICKLE SUMMER

c2019 Brian Beecher

We would once go away
On a spur of the moment trip
But now we just stay home
For to dream about what if

A little escape from routine
Was just what the doctor ordered
Back when we were carefree
In a dreamsicle summer

We were open to all the gifts of life
Interesting surprises in store for us
We were open to a feeling of pride
At being a part of lifes chorus
Back before our lives became a bummer
In a dreamsicle summer

Then all our time away from work
Wed devote to having fun
Until the early afternoon
Wed be lying in the sun

Then wed go do what we please
To the beat of our own drummer
Back when life was simpler
In a dreamsicle summer

We were open to all the gifts of life
Interesting surprises in store for us
We were open to a feeling of pride
At being a part of lifes chorus
Back before our lives became a bummer
In a dreamsicle summer
