You won't hear me singing on this tune as it was co-writtwn in 1996 for the Olympics for a female vocalist. 3 modulation changes, & my male vocals were not gonna fit the lyrics the way a woman does. When I came in on the tune, the piano player had part of the CHORUS, but that was her VERSE. She got on the piano & I suggested we use that as the CHORUS & I wrote the rest of the tune. I know the sound is dated, but damn, not a bad tune for where I was at musically 24 years ago. Keep in mind the Celine Dion sound was pretty big back then, so that is what we went for. I wonder if any female Artists would cut this and update the sound? "Let Me Live The Dream" SOUNDCLOUD LINK(c) 1996 Steve Altonian & Carol RomanAs a child when I used to play I’d pretend what I could be In the land of make believe you can be anything you please But the world changed & so did I as my innocence slipped away All the hopes that I held so dear never seemed to stay Please let me live the dream I want to feel it once again I don’t want to doubt let me live the dream & be free Free to know the truth within free to let my dream begin And it will not end let me live the dream In a drawer lays a photograph of friends I used to know For every dream held in our hand we’d let another go Still this feeling burns deep inside even after all this time Now I’m ready to take a chance again to stand & claim what’s mine Please let me live the dream I want to feel it once again I don’t want to doubt let me live the dream & be free Free to know the truth within free to let my dream begin And it will not end let me live the dream I finally have a reason after trying every way Gonna look toward tomorrow with the hope of yesterday Please let me live the dream I want to feel it once again I don’t want to doubt let me live the dream & be free Free to know the truth within free to let my dream begin And it will not end let me live it let me live it Please let me live the dream I want to feel it once again I don’t want to doubt let me live the dream & be free Free to know the truth within free to let my dream begin And it will not end let me live it, let me live it, let me live the dream Let me live the dream

Hi Steve:
Thanks for introducing us to Carol Roman. This is an exceptional co-write with a great production, lyric and especially good vocal. I appreciate your sharing a little of the background with us. Best of luck with it.

Steve,
Sounds to me like a potential Disney soundtrack. Beautiful melodies transcend eras--great work here!

Hi Steve, Yes, it's a big song, and I agree with Eddie. I can just hear a Disney princess belting it out on the big screen! I think that's your pitch.

You could have sung it Steve. Tie a shoe string around your balz and pull it tight...then sing. ;;)
Nice song.

It has a distinct 80's feel, kind of Whitney Houston one moment in time ish,
The keyboard sound brought me back to that era.
I enjoyed that little tempo change where the drums were filling, somewhere in there, with click tracks and software we have lost sense of tempo changes which adds alot to a song. Hard to do home recording wise.
I like the key changes, not sure you needed that many, three might have done the trick, but very cool stuff.

Somehow it does seem as though I have heard this one somewhere. May be deja vu though.

Steve,
Eddie has the right of it . . . really a Disney, even Broadway feel to this one. Your vocalist is terrific. Recorded almost 25 years ago? Still sounds really, really fresh. Outstanding work!
All my best,
Deej

Beautiful production of a great song, and, yes, a very Disney feel to it. Not my cup of tea at all, but I can still appreciate how well written and performed it is. Really good stuff!

Steve, I'd still rather listen to this than any hip hop and stuff out there I hear today. Solid work, Disney maybe, nothing wrong with that.
