Hey there all..............I got inspired and wrote a new one. A song for our times. I will appreciate your thoughts “Where Are You?”Words & Music By Tom Tognacihttps://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14097424 People burning down our streets While there are those glued to their seats A million (angry) points of view Where are you? Now’s the time to defend Make America great again Black, brown, red, white, and blue Where are you? Oh, I know…. ….Dammed if you do…..dammed if you don’t Half of us will, and the others just won’t The time to take a stance is now… Stand for what is right, or choose to kneel and bow Radicals with bricks and signs Don’t have to read between the lines Their plans lead nowhere new Where are you? ~Inst~ Yes, I know…. ….Dammed if you do…..dammed if you don’t Half of us will, and the others just won’t The time to take a stance is now… Stand for what is right, or choose to kneel and bow I’m reaching across the line And, I’m willing to help you find Another point of view Where are you?

Well written and well done. I liked the solo and the harmonica.
Always a pleasure to listen to your songs.
_ _ _ Have fun!
Thanks Guy..........and it's always a pleasure to hear from you!! I think this is a really good song. Even though I disagree with most of what it's trying to say, I think it does a good job of saying it. Strong, catchy melody and a great vocal that captures the spirit of the lyric. Love the sound effects.
Thanks Gavin.....I appreciate you taking the time to comment and listen. IronKnee--
This is a song of the times--Both sides now need to listen, and come back to the middle! I read between the lines!
Write on
Mackie Hi Mackie....Thanks for listening.....and my meaning is that it is pointless to read between the lines, when you have to dodge the brick throwing. Damn, you need that Bass & Drums coming in 2nd verse...
This needs a beat, way more than tambourine...
I love it...
Hi Steve, and thanks! All I have is me. I would have loved to have worked with a band on this.....but it's just me. I had no immediate inspiration on any accompanyment.....what you hear is on the spot work to make this a more full production. Hi Tom:
Thanks for saying what needs to be said. Steve provided some great input so... I won't "pile on" with any nits. These are troubling times. Anarchy has no place in America. Those who don't like it here need to find a barge or yellow submarine to a remote island somewhere. A Nation without good laws, enforced by great Policemen... will not be a Nation for long. All this and a Pandemic raging is a real threat to our Republic. We have never been a Democracy but have always tried to support that style of Government while protecting the rights of minorities.
Thanks, ----Dave Amen, I say!! This cr@p has to end. Thanks for listening and commenting..................I appreciate it! And thanks to all who have listened! -Tom

Good song, Tom. I can sympathize with your message.
Just because we're folkies doesn't mean we don't love our country.

Hi Tom
I really like this, great song!
Nigel Thanks Nigel! IronKnee, I really enjoyed listening in. I understand the sentiment and wish the hatred could be toned down a bit so the message could be heard. Also loved the crowd noise as it brings the reality of our current situation a little closer to our hearts. Thanks for sharing, Skip Thanks Skip..........I appreciate it! Good song, Tom. I can sympathize with your message.
Just because we're folkies doesn't mean we don't love our country. Amen, to that, SongBird!! And thanks for checking in! And thanks to all who have listened! -Tom

Hi Tom, If you have read my posts you already know this one is close to my heart. I hate violence, but when that is what the other side is doing and they won't listen to reason, there is only one way to stop it that doesn't give in to their irrational demands. Great song, well done. Thanks John...........I'm with you, as far as this awful violence some are perpetraiting. Thanks for listening and commenting. Hi Tom . You do your usual good work on this. I'm with Steve on the drums and bass but don't feel it needs the background effects though as the song stands on it's own imo.
Vic
Thanks Vic...............yeah, a band would be great. Thanks for listening and commenting! Tom,
Solid write and great vibe for this type song--folk/rock. I like the background invoking the drama. I have mixed feelings about adding too much added percussion however, it might lose it's folk-i-ness. If I did add drums and bass, I'd wait till after the guitar solo and have that following chorus be the launch point--would give a dramatic build for sure...........Now tambourines have many personalities.......this song has a lot of energy, so go ahead and hit that tambo hard on your hand palm, crank it up a bit! -- (pan about 20-25%) That will give you a lot more percussion dynamics and IMO make a signicicant improvement.
I do have one lyrical sug. I try and sometimes try with simple lyrics to get as much story info as I can from a sentence. How about stating in the opening first verse: "People burning flags in streets." That IMO, would create an even more dramatic and specific picture kicking the song off. A couple of sugs, use or lose.
I really enjoyed this vibe--great write!
steady-eddie Thanks SE...........I appreciate the crit, and appreciate the advice. I like the burning flags suggestion. I'll use it if I do a 1+1. Thanks.............and thanks for listening!!!! And thanks to all who have listened! -Tom
