https://soundcloud.com/wabash-cannibal/how-many-fingers-am-i-holding-upHow Many Fingers Am I Holding Up (V1) One night in this town can feel like a month in jail and I was needing just a few more rounds.. to spring my bail But I was short on cash and just a little too tipsy when I begged the barkeep for more bourbon or whisky He said "Son, let's play a game for some alcohol The loser scrubs my sister's name off the men's room wall Tell ya what, - I'll pour some rotgut -right here in this glass just close your eyes- you win the prize- if you can guess CHORUS How many fingers am I holding up it's a simple little question shouldn't be that tough You've been hangin' 'round this bar long enough Tell me.. how many fingers am I holding up “(ad lib during lead break) "that's what I'm talking about, just keep pouring the bourbon and you can skip the beer (V2) After five right guesses, it all became a blur They say I was posing as a doctor when I tried to hit on her She was a pretty little red head but I must have crossed the line When I said, If you ever need an organ, I'll be glad to donate mine Well, those shots of bourbon and Canadian mist became the brass knuckles on her boyfriend's fist I banged a booth, spit a tooth...the room began to spin I guess I looked pathetic, when that paramedic, fin'lly came in and said... CHORUS (longer ad lib during lead break) Oh Lord, I felt like I got hit by a truck named "Bill" He was six four two forty five with a cold chrome grill (V3) Well, next weekend when I left the bathroom stall that same barkeep was scrubbin' something off the wall he said, Hey Buddy, double or nothing do ya wanna make another bet? but I showed him my hand then grinned and said CHORUS (c)2005 Robert George/Joe Harris

I don't need to tell you, Robert and Joe... this one is a "treasure." I don't know who sang it for you... but the vocal was as good as the message and the music. Can't you just see Garth Brooks bringing down the house with this song? Impressive work, my friends. Best of luck with it. Its a "Keeper!"

Thanks, Dave. I think there are some things in vs. 2 that'd keep Garth Vader from cutting this. Maybe Brad Paisley would do it. He's a rascal. This either was an indie cut way back when or was going to be. I remember the artist saying it went over like gangbusters live.
