School of Hard Knocks
I went back home in a dream, Licking on nickel ice cream, Clutching a large bag of candy I bought for a dime.
I passed the places I knew, Doing what I used to do, Riding my bike to the school ground To play for a time.
But the school of hard knocks had burnt down, The Old School had burnt to the ground, Lying in ashes were lessons that I had been taught,
When you make a promise you’re bound, With flea bitten dogs don’t lay down, Dishonest deeds are still wrong, even when you’re not caught.
Feelings are yours to control, Words that you use take a toll, Show some respect first if you ever hope to receive,
Come and be ready to learn, Getting the grades that you earn, Learning to work and be Proud of the things you achieve.
But the school of hard knocks had burnt down, The Old School had burnt to the ground, Lying in ashes were lessons that I had been taught.

"If one man can do it, any man can do it. It is true. But the real question is, if one man did it, are you willing to do what it takes to do it as well?" –Brian Austin Whitney
