Hi All, Again something I wrote in a comment led to a lyric. Fresh ink, hope you like it.
Thanks to John Paragreen for 1st verse suggestions.
This Body That I See
I wake up every morning’ Bones aching and sore My mind goes wondering Fore my feet hit the floor Memories of my life Good years come and gone Those precious days when I was young and strong
There’s a country boy trapped-----} Chorus Inside this body that I see I want my tin six shooter To climb the highest tree I want to be out huntin’ Somewhere wild and free There’s a country boy trapped Inside this body that I see
Eighty miles an hour Flyin’ down a gravel road A spunky country gal To make my heart explode I want to do it all again To hear that engine roar To feel that first kiss Before death’s at my door
There’s a country boy trapped-----} Chorus Inside this body that I see I want my tin six shooter To climb the highest tree I want to be out huntin’ Somewhere wild and free There’s a country boy trapped Inside this body that I see
I know it can’t happen--------------} Bridge My time is almost gone I’m wishin’ for a miracle Before my days are done
Instrumental Break
There’s a country boy trapped-----} Chorus Inside this body that I see I want my tin six shooter To climb the highest tree I want to be out huntin’ Somewhere wild and free There’s a country boy trapped Inside this body that I see
There’s a country boy trapped Inside this body that I see

Well written John. I can relate to going back in time since I’m on the downhill side of life’s arch. I like the folksy memory package.

Hi CT, And thanks. This came from a remark I made to Steve A, that I was a country boy inside an old country man's body. Sometimes when it comes out of your mouth/pen, you just have to write it.

Write, write everything. Every thought and word even stuff that doesn’t make sense. Then put it together. Then rewrite and get suggestions from others. Thanks for the hook change on my song.

Hi I like the idea a lot, for me though i would put the old man in those moments, not wishing for them, and also consider changing the theme to a more positive angle, like a country boy still riding in his old heart, like
I wake up every morning’ Bones all aching and sore My mind goes a wondering Fore my feet hit the floor Memories of my life Years come and gone Those precious days when I was young and strong
There’s a country boy riding-----} Chorus Inside this body that I see Shooting a tin six shooter Climbing the highest tree He's out there huntin’ Somewhere wild and free There’s a country boy riding Inside this body that I see
maybe consider , inside the man that you see
just my thoughts, I'm kinda hearing Willie Nelson all the best, john

Hi CT, and thanks again. I try to write what comes to me. And yes, I never know when or where it's going to find me.

Hi John, Thanks for the read and the thoughtful suggestions. I like your ideas for the first verse, and I will use most of them. I want a wistful feel for this song though, the wish I could kind, so I'll leave the chorus. Last time I was in America, I had an agent try to hire as lead singer for a Willie cover band when I was doing karaoke in a big club in Knoxville. I told him I wouldn't remember most of the words and had to pass.
