Steve and Vic mentioned Tampa Stan Good in comments on their songs
When I think of Stan I always think of his kindness, humour and willingness to help anyone on the boards, in what I look on as the good days here.
Just before he passed away we collaborated on a lyric which initially was an idea of mine
Sadly the full song was never heard in Stan's lifetime.
However we did agree on the lyric and both Stan and I agreed that Steve Biederman must be approached to do the vocal and music
A silly song, but fun to be involved with
Thank you Stan and Steve
I'm renaming it STAN'S SONG

Always Wanted to be a Cowboy
Childhood HEWO was Big John Wayne
PUWWING his Gun on all the Bad Guys
They Never WODE thru His Town Again!

Very amusing and Steve pulls it off with apwomb.

It's never too late? Yes it is, so do it now.

If, given time, a monkey can write the complete works of Shakespeare maybe there's hope for me.

I liked Tampa Stan too never understood though why he wrote all his lyrics in capital letters....I found them hard to read.

Fun song, what happened to little stevie?

Hello Fd
Yes all capitals with a BIG GUY HUGS ending.
Steve's did have some medical issues but seems fine.
I speak to him occasionally on FB, where a handful of the old regulars crop up.
Thanks for the listen
I think we desperately need humour sometimes.

Loved this. Very funny. Steve did a great job, as did John and Stan. Somehow I think it would reach its' ultimate potential though if sung by Elmer Fudd. Not sure why. smile Loved it. Nice job guys.

I enjoyed the disconnect between what one would anticipate the melody to be judging from the title. Kind of an anti-genre thing.
Melody started out sounding somewhat White Album-ish and then morphed into a Gavin-esque sound.

Playful fun cheerful.

Travis,

Tampa Stan was a bit before my time . . . at least I donít recall seeing him since I first joined a few years back. But this is terrifically quirky . . . you just canít stop listening! Terrific performance by Steve, who does a great job on this. Very fun listen! Thanks for sharing.

My best to you,

Deej

Hi Guys,
Well done and a nice tribute, There are so many I miss seeing here from the Pineyfest days. too many to list, but the old-timers know who they are. I remember when any post had tons of replies. not so any more. And yes, Stan was one of the good guys here.

Have a goodun,

When the lyric was sorted Stan said when we have the finished song I'm going to contact Mel Blanc's son Noel to ask would he be interested in recording it?
Apparently Stan made or repaired a clock for Noel Blanc and still retained his phone number and home address.

Hi John ...

Stan was a wonderful man and a good friend. When my former wife (now deceased) needed a wheelchair, he started a drive and raised enough money to purchase one for her. At the time, money was really tight for us.That's the kind of guy he was. I really miss him. And his wife, whom he always referred to as "La Femme" was a sweet and terrific lady. She was originally from France/

Many folks didn't know he was a really talented cartoonist and illustrator. I'm sure he's smiling down on this! He always called me "Sideguy"... my screen name back then was "Sideman".

Anyway ... that was a really amusing and fun song! I smiled all the way through it. You guys did good! Thanks for the fun!

You also referred to the "good days" here at JPF. Yeah ... really miss them. You probably remember Bobbie Gallup, her husband Graydawh (Corky bernard), Judy Hollier, Tink (Cindy Miller) ... just to name a few. Man ... they were fun and talented!

Wishing you the best. Be safe ...

Alan

Hi Bill
Thanks for your nice comments credit to Stan and of course Steve who really turned this idea we had into a fun song.
Steve sang this live, I recall seeing it on YouTube.

What a great story and kind gesture from Stan
Yes I remember one or two of those guys and the time when songs and lyrics and everything else moved quickly up and down the boards.
Thanks for sharing and all the best

Stan was definitely a central figure here at JPF and earlier at Shayne Vaughan's The Write Stuff

Stan was not only a gifted lyricist and cartoonist, he actually made his living fixing up and refurbishing old clocks and fans out of his Tampa Bay store.

I actually have one of his fans, a gift and memento from Pineyfest years back.

And the caps in laces was a way to get his thinking about meter across, so they actually emphasised the beat he had in mind.

He was also all about " a song a day", and my what stuff he would write.

Back to this gem...nice collab and fun song. Nice to see part of him is not only here but alive as well

If writing ever becomes work I think I'm going to have to stop
