Travis sent me his original lyric to work on. Slotted in a few lines here and there. E.G. The middle part of the chorus. Also 3rd line in verse two was originally "shouldn't be breeding". Which I changed to "no sense or feeling" Not sure if the title should be as is or "What money can't buy". We welcome your observations. https://soundcloud.com/vic-arnold/thank-god-there-are-mountainsTHANK GOD THERE ARE MOUNTAINS ©2020 Vaughan & Arnold V Streets are now empty Pubs have run dry From days of plenty to wide open eyes Houses are shuttered can't pay their dues revelations sordid On national news Ch Thank god there are mountains where a body can hide Thank god there are rivers The waters of life Thank god there are meadows on grass we can lie Thank god there are mountains What money can't buy Short inst. V Children go hungry but look at those fools No sense or feeling & damn to the rules The poor and enlightened carry the load Furtive and frightened, stick to the code Ch Tag No pennies to count but oh what money can't buy but oh, oh, oh, what money can't buy

Thanks to Vic for all his work on this and his patience. When our kids were little it was so good to take them away into the countryside or up to Lakeland to get a way from it all, in our battered old camper van. This inspired the lyric Regards John

To me Travis and Vic, there seems to be almost a historical presence in this song, almost a sad reflection. I think that it might be the way its written and performed, very nice job Vic always liked your vocals, nothing wrong with the writing end in this, to me.

Hi Lane. As a kid I was often escaping to the mountains and river areas so Travis's lyric rang true for me. Thanks for your comments.

Vic and Travis,
I liked the tune a lot. Nicely put together, Vic, with some deft production touches. Like the balance and reserve on the vocal harmonies. Sweet tune!
Hope you are both well!

We were unsure of the title but personally I liked Mountains. It conjures up a peaceful setting, a retreat. Cheers John

Wasn't sure at the start but it grows on you faster than measles. I agree there is a certain sadness to this but it somehow adds rather thyan subtracts to the whole feel of this song. Congratulations to you both. :-)
Stay Safe, Gerry

WONDERFUL Collab!!
Love the first verse and chorus and the title works for me, I love what this says and the slow, thoughtful pace allows the listener to hear every word and relate to it. Great production on it, I really enjoyed this one!!
