Lane,
Really like this--even in this "pretty rough" form, it's such a pretty and heartfelt love song--nice write. And is that you singing, friend? Man, you sound really good--maybe add just a smidge of reverb when you get around to the final--nice tone that fits the song well. Like the key change at the end. You say "pretty rough," but it's a lot closer than you think. The only thing on this recording that I wasn't too crazy about was the high-hat, which seems a tad off to me and intrusive at times. The piano was sweet. Great stuff, can't wait to hear the finished product.
All my best to you--stay well, stay safe!

Hi Lane:
For a "rough draft"... the "bones" are there... and the deep sentimentality become obvious almost immediately. It isn't quite ready for prime time... but can be without much effort. Your vocal really adds to the song. Enjoyed my listen very much... and hope to hear Josh Groban singing it for you soon!
All the best, ----Dave

Coming up with fresh words for a song of this subject will always be tough and HAS BEEN SINCE THE 50's....
BUT....You got line I really love AND IS FRESH..."When the moon forgets to rise"...Great line...
I think if you compare under a microsope all your lines to your "best" line while writing this song, you will be able to write your song "up to" this line....
That's all I got...Best to you

hello Steve, nice to meet you. I know that to be the truth, I`ve always said, nothing ever new just re-arranged.
Thanks, thats good advise. I think of all the emotional" we write, play, love is the most used, We attach everything to it, kids, leaving, happy...the dog"..a bottle of whiskey...LOL know what I mean? so something new there is a struggle..thanks so much for stopping by and commenting and listening..Lane
