Hi Folks,

So most of us have thought at some point of our lives "if I only had some TIME, I could do X, Y or Z."

So have you done those things? Did you find out it wasn't about the free time as much as your actual will to do it?

I have spent a big chunk of time doing something I always put off. I am going through many hundreds of hours of music on Cassette tape from writing sessions and band practices and digitizing them. It is very time consuming, but I definitely have time so if not now, when?

How and what are you guys doing?

Great topic, Brian:

The act of getting one's self off the couch or recliner in front of the dumb-down machine (TV) is one that requires discipline many of us do not possess! I've been pouring through my catalog and songs in an attempt to discover how many of them need to be re-recorded, re-written (could be melody, lyrics... or both) and then actually attacking them one by one. My vocals, due to old age and lack of proper training are usually the "Fly-in-the-Ointment"... requiring recut after recut. (Plenty of practice but rough on ageing vocal chords.)

Then there's that book of short stories about an old geezer who was young once. A topic only interesting to my children and their offspring... I hope!

Other than that, our Chess Club is chomping at the bit to get back to the bi-weekly wars with each other... but probably not until "Pandemic Peace" has been declared.

Stay safe and keep on doing all the great things you are accomplishing. It sure helps to pass the time and reduce the stress of boredom! ----Dave

Fiji
Have retreated to a hotel on the beach. With Fiji in lock down, there are no tourists and the rooms and service is very cheap.

Hanging out with other "trapped" folks and having sing song sessions at the Bamboo Beach Club. Going through old songs and trying to finish one in particular.

I like the comradely of those whom have chosen to stay, and appreciate the kindness of others in helping each other in these difficult times. I hope that remains when this is all over.

Stay safe ! smile

cheers, niteshift

Even though my employer is considered "essential," my hours have been reduced to "0" because construction sites have been closed and new construction projects have been put on indefinite holds. I do get to see my children almost everyday since they are doing their school at my house every weekday regardless of whose week it is for custody. Since my children are both trustworthy, I have been doing extensive spring lawn work - mostly weeding, leaf and stick collection(lots of windy days) -over twenty lawn bags before I did my first mowing. I only have to followup at the end of the afternoon to see if they've completed their assignments - and they consistently complete them before I ask.
I've composed one new song and I'm getting it ready for the studio once the restrictions are lifted. A lot of practice time. Walks and ping pong with the children. They both play brass instruments, so practice time for them is now increased since I'm home. They need to keep their lips in good shape in order to get better tones. I'm contemplating composing some trombone and trumpet accompaniments to some songs so that they can practice playing together.
