Sorry, Everett:
I've been "away" for several days without internet... and not feeling too well myself. Ray and I are probably close to the same age and both served in different units in the Navy. Briefly, I was stationed at a Naval Air Base (now used for other purposes) near his home town of Brunswick, GA. We've never met but have had many exchanges over the years here at JPF. Like you, I'm hoping he isn't ill but just taking a break... maybe "writing a hit" as he always chides us!
With all this "sheltering in-place" going on, maybe he will get bored and check in here at JPF.
Regards, my friend...
----Dave

Hi Dave, I hope you don't succumb to this virus, be very careful. Hope you are feeling better soon. My wife and myself are house bound most of the time, obeying what the Doctors say, we only go out to get groceries. Can't even go to church, they are all closed. We have a lot of Snowbirds that vacation down South, now travelling back to Canada. They have to isolate themselves for 14 days to make sure they are not bringing back more virus with them. We have over 1000 cases in Canada now, but that could multiply very fast if people get careless. Get well and stay well and safe.

Hi Everett:
I was hoping we would hear from Ray! I have not researched the Pandemic's effect on Glynn County, GA but would be surprised if it is very active there. I had a real struggle with a different strain of influenza about a month ago... but it was definitely not Corona. Took me about three weeks to break free from it. It began with taking a Senior Flu Injection about a week or two before this strain struck. It started with a full day of sneezing... so much, in fact, my ribs were aching at the end of the first day. This type never followed the "normal" flu pattern of beginning in the nasal area, migrating up into the brain cavity and then down into the lungs and abdomen. It stopped in the head, created lots of nose blowing but never moved into the lungs.
To make matters worse, I have a severe nerve problem related to sciatica in my lower back plus arthritic tingling in my hands and toes. Getting old is not fun but staying "above ground" is still important to me.
We are "sheltering in-place" except to acquire groceries. I miss playing chess downtown with all my friends but even in this tiny town, churches and businesses are closed unless totally essential.
Thank goodness I can entertain myself by writing, cleaning up my catalog and taking care of tons of filing I usually forego because it interrupts the creative process.
Be well and safe, my friend.
----Dave

I woke up yesterday morning with a pain starting in my neck, down my shoulder and arm, no way I could get in a position where it didn't hurt. I took some pain killer which helped a bit. I believe it is a pinched nerve in my neck that is causing it. I put in a hard night last night, it is still there this morning but not quite as bad. Getting old is painful but still we try to hang on. LOL Be safe my friend, this too will pass.

Starting around March 10th I got deep chest congestion, coughing, & serious body aches. I checked temp an it was fine. It got slightly better a week later, but then around March 20th I completely lost my sense of taste along with more serious congestion. The loss of taste lasted about 3 days. At the end of that run, I got diarrhea on top of it. Then I hear on the news that those two symptoms are more accurately predictors of CV than a fever. I did not get tested because around my birthday the symptoms all let up. I still have congestion, but not as bad as it was before. I have no other symptoms I am aware of. I haven't been in public since March 14th. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks 100% out of the public and going back to New Years I have only l left the house 3 times total, twice to the grocery and once to see my Granddaughter when closures were first being discussed and the NBA just decided to shut down.
So did I have it? Likely in my opinion. So should I be relieved I made it through? Well, since so many stories are saying that catching it a second time often leads to death, I think I am more worried now than I was initially. My wife is a front line worker doing her best to keep her exposure as low as she can while coming home and heroically going through a protocol after 12 hours of work to keep me safe. But one little error and all bets are off.
I've heard a lot about "viral load" where people repeatedly exposed do the worst. So perhaps a tiny exposure won't be fatal. But what about my wife? She's almost helpless against heinous people who are intentionally trying to spread this crap. People licking elevator buttons, and worse, trying to spread it to the next people. This stuff can live on surfaces for at least 17 days, possibly longer.
I worry about all of you, especially our elderly members (which is nearly all of us regulars). Reading this headline I feared the worst when I opened this. Perhaps all of you should send me a PM with your contact info so if you disappear we can check in . As for me, watch facebook to see if I am still kicking. If my wife is posting, I must be okay. Linda Berger Whitney. How about the rest of you?

I am glad to hear that you are feeling better, Brian, after such a tough couple of weeks, and hope you continue to do well.

We don't see Colin Ward around much either. I know Colin, went to HS with him, and he's doing well pursuing photography--he's really a very talented individual whether playing lead guitar, expressing his artistic photography skills, sailing the Caribbean, or his career of engineering--he doesn't stop growing. That's what's really cool about us Baby Boomers when you think about it, we refuse to get old!
I always get a kick of Ray's retorts that begin with - "eh, well." I lived near Brunswick, Ga when I was in my prime at 21-22, but never knew Ray, but that was over 40 years ago.
