Rich Murray's Mini Blog:
Song Lyric quote of the week:
From Waylon & Willie's ( Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys )
This song actually has a ton of good lines in it, but the one that means the most to me personally is "Them that don't know him won't like him, and them that do sometimes won't know how to take him." I suppose it really just explains me in a nut shell. Quiet, reserved, and you never really know what I'm thinking. I sort of like it that way, but it does drive friends and family nuts. Does that make me a cowboy? Anyway, Waylon & Willie are both great songwriters and great inspirations to me as a writer, however they did not pen this song. It was written by Ed Bruce, and his wife Patsy. Ed had a decent performing career himself, and released the song in 1976. Waylon & Willie hit a home run with it in 1978. Lot's of great lyrics painting the picture. Writers check it out if you're not familiar.
Respectfully, Rich Murray mm2cap@iquest.net

That is a good one!
I started to write a parody,
"Baby, Don't Let Your Momma Throw Up On Those Cowboys.
Don't let her break guitars and scratch peoples' trucks.
We're gonna need doctors and lawyers and such!"
I imagined setting it up with an explanation that my girlfriend said, "We have to take my Mom out with us tonight. It's her birthday!"
So we pick her up and she's already pitching drunk, and at the club gets drunker, her sequined jeans grinding on trucks she falls against in the parking lot, stumbling into the bandstand full of fine guitars. What was that thing they advertised on TV for putting 'jewels' on your clothes yourself? Momma got one and overdid it in her birthday outfit! LOL
And the ultimate scene, steadying herself on a table full of hard lookin' unsympathetic cowboys, seeming ready to hurl at at any second!
Hell of a video! Baby, don't let your Momma throw up on those cowboys!

There will always be another song to be written. Someone will write it. Why not you? www.garyeandrews.com

Rich, Waylon and Willie had some great tunes. I liked this from "Don't Cuss the Fiddle". "I scandalized my brother while admitting that he sang some pretty songs, and I heard that he'd been scandalizing me, and lord, I knew that, that was wrong."

Gary, I'll never get those lyrics out of my head. Every time I'll hear, "Babies don't let your momma throw up on those Cowboys."

" Don't Cuss The Fiddle ". I reckon I need to check that one out. I was just thinking today how certain lines of certain songs just stick with people forever. Most folks just think of the hook, but a certain line at a certain time in our lives may be etched in our memories forever. Even if it's a parody, which Gary should probably release to public, some lines are never forgotten. That's why I'm working on this mini blog really, just mentioning those that have stuck with me, and I enjoy hearing others experiences as well. Thanks for chiming in guys.

I hope you can live with that Rick. LOL My apologies if I've ruined a good old one for you!
Parodies can be very popular.
And joke Songs. They come along every so often. Ray Stevens. Gaylord Sartain. Cletus Judd. Weird Al Yankovic.
This one could probably work because some of the words match the Rhyme-Scheme, some Lines using some of the same 'furniture', just in a different 'storyline' than the original.
"Bedazzler?" Was that the thing As Seen On TV enabling people to attach 'jewels' to their clothes? I think it was. There's a whole joke in that!

I have several novelty (funny) type songs. Needs the right person to sing them.
