Hey Brian:
Tried to donate through Pay Pal just now and it didn't process. Maybe an issue on their end. I'll try again tomorrow after I see whether it hits my card. But count me in for a contribution. There's more life in us yet!!!

Hey Brian, Some of us "dying breeds" are actually appreciated by the young folks. Some say that the young guys don't respect the past, but I find quite the opposite.. I'll try once again to donate. cheers, niteshift

Brian. This site is powered by UBB Threads. Can anyone there recommend a host that could help migrate such a large site? https://www.ubbcentral.com/ I see that there is a "Hosting Questions" section in the Members Area. I'm not a member, so I don't have access to it. If you want my help, I could sign up and see what can be found there. To be honest, not being familiar with all the details of the site, I might not be best placed to discuss it with folks there, but I'm willing to give it a try if you want to. Or maybe you have someone more familiar with your site who could do that. I'm not familiar with Bandzoogle, but they seem to be an outfit that shoehorns websites into a fixed format. Easy for musicians to set up a simple website, but not for a forum like this. You would probably be better with a "regular" host. I use Stablepoint https://stablepoint.com/. They are based in the UK and were ridiculously helpful when I had to migrate some sites. I have already contacted them and they told me that they don't think it would be a problem. They would need to know the following: The disk space The bandwidth The current hosting setup If you let me know this, I'll pass it on to them. You can get an unlimited account with lunarpages, not too expensive. I used to have a couple of gigs stored on it, until I ended my wedding photography biz a few years ago, I had no problems.

Paypal Donate button is on the top right of the page. ... You can donate via paypal it is safe and reliable and many of you have already in the past.
You can mail me a check, but John Schick can affirm on average we have difficulty cashing them in a timely manner, we'll try to do better. Our address is
Just Plain Folks, 5327 Kit Dr. Indianapolis, IN 46237.
If that is okay, every bit helps for sure. If you need some other way, send me a note. Thanks to all for keeping us going. We may be a dying breed, but we're not dead yet. I think updating things may breath more life into things.

Kevin,
I went ahead and donated using PayPal instead of sending check to address. It worked fine. You might want to update the 2020 donation page as this may motivate others by showing those who are aiding support.

Just a thought Brian, and I could be way off base with it.
Why not keep the forum site and main website separate as far as servers and suppliers go. Then hopefully neither will become top-heavy.
Just a thought
and I hope that your spirits are up.
God Bless to you and family
Roy

It cost 350 dollars for a year of hosting and that alone is more than we get in donations yearly. Doubling it doesn't make sense as we can now host unlimited sites with unlimited content and traffic off our site as it stands. The only downside is I can't just use wix or something similar to make a template site. So I need a custom site. They have templates you can buy but none do what I envision.

That would be nice. Back in the day (i.e. the years where a long list of people donated) we brought in a couple thousand dollars a year which built up our account to pay for updates and fixes/troubleshooting etc. But all that money has been whittled down to where we nearly bottomed out entirely. Thanks to a few $50-$100 dollar donations we kept from going into the negative. Right now we have a few hundred dollars in there. So we are a ways from being able to put a website up around the message board. It will likely cost a couple thousand dollars to get us back up and running if what I want is available for that amount. My hope is to be able to post stories, interviews, and photos/videos new and old from the archives and want to start a JPF YouTube Channel. I would love to transfer old showcases to digital and post. Over 25K artists have played a show and I have about half of them on tape going back to VHS tape in the late 80's. We'll see. Meanwhile anything helps! Thanks to those who have already contributed. I just added the two we got via mail Calvin Stewart and Dave Rice. Brian

Just donated via the donate button under the name Albert Willis. That's what the bank calls me. I haven't been active here lately but remember all the good things that happened over the years . Hope it helps.

I've been distracted by work and viruses that I'm trying not to catch and forgot that I had promised a 100 dollar donation to this site.. Just fixed that. Though not much, hope it helps. I also hope that no one around here got the virus.
Cheers,
Martin
