Hi All,
I know you're probably getting tired of me posting but the muse called again. This one woke me this morning so here it is. This will sound like a soft anthem,

I Love My Island Life

The morning breeze chases
The clouds across the sky
The sun tints the horizon
As darkness waves goodby
Soft water laps the shoreline
The palms leaves speak to me
The seagulls drift upon the breeze
Forever flying free

I love my island life-------------------------} Chorus
The sun caressing me
The simple folk who live here
The warmth of family
I'd never trade it for the world
Not fame beyond renowned
And when Saint Peter calls me
You know where I'll be found

I know it isn't perfect
The typhoons tell me so
But when the storms are over
I never want to go
To someplace that is safer is
Not happiness for me
This is my home my future
And it will always be

I love my island life-------------------------} Chorus
The sun caressing me
The simple folk who live here
The warmth of family
I'd never trade it for the world
Not fame beyond renowned
And when Saint Peter calls me
You know where I'll be found

Instrumental Break

I love my island life-------------------------} Chorus
The sun caressing me
The simple folk who live here
The warmth of family
I'd never trade it for the world
Not fame beyond renowned
And when Saint Peter calls me
You know where I'll be found

I love my island life
You know where I'll be found

(I'm wondering when you convert the poetic Lyric to a Song to be sung, how long Verse I will be. The exposition of visuals seems good, but shouldn't go on too long. How much is 'enough' is the Songwriter's judgment call. Reading through again it may go quickly, arriving at the Chorus easily within the first 60 seconds.)

I Love My Island Life

The morning breeze chases (Three 'The's right here at the start. Maybe 'A' morning breeze.
The clouds across the sky
The sun tints the horizon
As darkness waves goodbye
Soft water laps the shoreline
The palm leaves speak to me
The seagulls drift upon the breeze
Forever flying free

I Love My Island Life-------------------------} Chorus
The sun caressing me
The simple folk who live here
The warmth of family
I'd never trade it for the world
Not fame beyond renown
And when Saint Peter calls me
You know where I'll be found
(Even Un-Rhymed, closing with THE Hook/title might be stronger. Two 'hits' on THE Hook per giving of the Chorus may help drive that home as the gist of the whole storyline.)

I know it isn't perfect
The typhoons tell me so
But when the storms are over
I never want to go
To someplace that is safer is (Delete 'is'? Say, 'That's not happiness for me'?)
Not happiness for me
This is my home, my future
And it will always be

I Love My Island Life-------------------------} Chorus
The sun caressing me
The simple folk who live here
The warmth of family
I'd never trade it for the world
Not fame beyond renowned
And when Saint Peter calls me
You know where I'll be found
I Love My Island Life

Instrumental Break (I consider this an Instrumental Bridge. The Beatles called it an 'Instrumental Interlude'. I think it serves the function of a Bridge, breaking the Structural Repetition, supplying new sounds to renew listener interest, enabling a final giving of the Chorus without risking monotony of Repetition. A Song must have 'enough' Repetition to supply relatable Structure, 'enough' Change to keep it interesting. 'Enough' is the Songwriter's judgment call. Listeners will make their own judgment.)

I Love My Island Life-------------------------} Chorus
The sun caressing me
The simple folk who live here
The warmth of family
I'd never trade it for the world
Not fame beyond renowned
And when Saint Peter calls me
You know where I'll be found
(Coda)
I Love My Island Life
You know where I'll be found
(One more 'hit' on THE Hook?)
I Love My Island Life

Hi Gary,
Thanks for dropping in, the comments and the suggestions. This one will come in at just under 3:30, the magic # for radio. I will get rid of one of the "The's" and change to "Gray clouds across the sky". I really like "The" because it is a strong word versus "A" which is more neutral. I will think about "To someplace that is safer is" but instead or repeating is I would be repeating that.
I was told by my studio guy to call that an "Instrumental Break". Since he has his licks on 4+ gold albums, I listened to him.
I am also not sure about repeating the hook as it throws my meter off. But I will think on it. Thanks again.
