Perhaps a good song for the holiday season.

DREAMS OF SUGAR COOKIES

c2018 Brian Beecher

I have dreams of sugar cookies
Every time you cross my mind
And other confections
That you made float through my head

When I’d come home tired and weary
They’d be waiting there for me
And I still recall
The kind words that you said

And at the time you were my precious loved one
Remembered to stay grounded
And to have good boundaries
But I had trouble picking up other people’s feelings
And it pulled us apart
As I would do as I please

There may be moments of confusion
As I’d think of you again
And I’d sit around
Just waiting for the fog to lift

When we’d sip a cup of magic
As we snuggled at each other’s side
Back in time when you
Were my life’s one greatest gift

And at the time you were my precious loved one
Remembered to stay grounded
And to have good boundaries
But I had trouble picking up other people’s feelings
And it pulled us apart
As I would do as I please

I still dream of sugar cookies
As I hope you’ll come to call
Spending quality time
Enjoying each other’s company

And good food will be here waiting
Be exuberant and bubbly
And I hope it will be
A happy time for you and me

And at the time you were my precious loved one
Remembered to stay grounded
And to have good boundaries
But I had trouble picking up other people’s feelings
And it pulled us apart
As I would do as I please
