This song though would make a good followup to this one which was done by quite a few artists. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgcBQ5l2WrABut pop/country blending is nothing new by any means. Think Patsy Cline as one of the best examples. And in the late 60s there was a trend called Countrypolitan with the likes of Glen Campbell and kicked off with the Nancy Sinatra classic, "These Boots are Made for Walking".

But if what you're saying is really true, how do you explain how Ray Charles took many traditional country songs and made them his own, and chart-topping traditionalist Charley Pride? And lest not forget the Pointer Sisters brief flirtation with country when they did "Fairytale". I believe the answer is in your question lol... What’s different today?

Hi Guys, The Pointer Sisters, and Ray Charles, and let's not forget Charley Pride, were not doing "Play Chicken With The Train", or some of the Rap/ Hip-Hop garbage that has been done and somehow been tied to the country name. I don't know how to say it any plainer, but, "That Ain't Country"! You sure can't tie Patsy Cline and Glen Campbell in with them. The really interesting thing is, when some of the newer pop/country artists put out a traditional sounding song, it usually sells like hotcakes, and nobody seems to see that, especially the publishers and producers. And when the Taylor Swift's and the like make it with crossovers they seem to forget how they got there.
