Loved the spoken song intro, Paul:
Peppy little tune with a happy message. Enjoyed the message and everything about it. Reminds me of our Dachshund, Gretel. Dumb but endearing. In the 'burbs of Nashville, she would run chase rabbits, then surprise us when they would take turns and chase her around the back acre.
Best of luck in getting this one up the ladder to success. Our world needs it.
----Dave

HI Paul, This is wonderful. I am detecting an overall style, with this one and your last and I like your mixture of comedy and warmth and simplicity. A funny alternate ending, as the track fades, would be for Houston to bark twice, and you go :"doh!".. I could hear distortion on the vocal at the start (0:50 to 1:05) Maybe a combination of volume and close-miking and compression resulting in a highly saturated sound. Your settings help keep the vocal on top of the mix late and the settings are more invisible then, but I was wondering if you dialed them back a little at the very beginning if your vocal would sound more natural there. There's just a piano playing at that point, so imo the voice need not be so saturated..a minor thing and just a thought.. Loved it.. Mike

What a delight! You have a style that's all your own, Paul, and I'm a fan.
My dog always finds the sunny spot too, though with him it's out in the yard. If he finds a really good one, he refuses to budge from it and won't come in.

Paul,
You just got my day started in a positive frame of mind! This was great--all round.....you might consider specializing in children TV songs as this would be perfect for that type of children's learning/entertainment show. Great concept and tune!

----Dave Cheers Dave Gretel sounds like a sweetie HI Paul, This is wonderful. I am detecting an overall style, with this one and your last and I like your mixture of comedy and warmth and simplicity. There's just a piano playing at that point, so imo the voice need not be so saturated..a minor thing and just a thought.. Loved it.. Mike Thanks Mike - I'll have a look at that distortion. I think I compressed the lead vox - maybe a bit too much at that point. Appreciate the kind words. What a delight! You have a style that's all your own, Paul, and I'm a fan.
My dog always finds the sunny spot too, though with him it's out in the yard. If he finds a really good one, he refuses to budge from it and won't come in. Haha I guess all dogs are like that. Smarter than us mere humans I guess. Thanks for listening and the compliments Gavin. Funny song. Good structure. Nice melody. Great voice. The dog is incredibly good at maths...
Have fun!

It sounds like one of those light-hearted Songs used in musicals to set the scene. And great advice. I'm linking a friend whose dog just passed away, and isn't handling it well.
There will always be another song to be written. Someone will write it. Why not you? www.garyeandrews.com

I was sad that it is dark outside. i wanted to listen to this in a sunny spot. Love the dog story and your optimism. It's a catchy tune that left me humming it for quite a while.
