Good stuff RD! I do think if the vocal volume was slightly higher, (and the auto tune was removed) this may be better.

Hi Ronnie: Where ya' been? Good to see you posting again. Like most of the "purists" at JPF (when it comes to listening) I'd like to be able to read the lyric first... or as the song plays as a next best alternative. I agree with Mike (9ne) about the volume problem. As it now stands, your vocal is submerged a bit and the guitar is getting all my ear's attention.

Lot's to enjoy in this one and judging by all the other songs listed on your "Reverb" page, you've been busy. Thanks for sharing. All the best, ----Dave

Thanks guys for listening and telling me about the vox level.
I'll try to correct that in the coming days.

Sorry I didn't post the words, here they are.
I hope they are up to date

By My Side.

Into: Ooh La La La La

Poor as dusty dirt can get.
We haven’t hit our stride just yet.
Livin it up on lovesick borrowed time
The rusty truck's seen better years
And now it's stuck in second gear.
Cause there’s is no way but up when you’re by my side. – Woah Oh…….

Baby Blue, I’m in love with you.
And I know the reason why
It’s your walk, n’ your talk and the way you smile. - Your smile.

Yer mama says she wants you home.
She’s blowin up your telephone
She raised her baby right but now you’re,
Downright outta sight and you know you’re

Mine all mine you look so fine.
Huggin and a kissin you so divine.
Wonder you, Super me, till the end of time.
We will make it, we always do
Or we can fake it until we do
But there’s no more way but up when you’re by my side.

Whatever you say that you want, whatever you need, you can get from me.
Baby, just say that you want, you want me.

Break Down:
Poor as dusty back roads get.
Heaven knows we won’t for-get
Livin it up on what we can borrow, Givin it up like there’s no tomorrow.

Ooh Ya-hoo I’m in love with you.
You make my heart ta fly
With your walk, and your talk and the way you smile.
We will make it, we always do
Just two lovers without a clue
But there’s taint no other way but up when you’re by my side. – alright.

Outro: Ooh La La La La La, Ooh Ya Ya Ya Ya Ya - Ooh La La La La La, Ooh Ya Ya Ya Ya Ya

Really inviting opening to this song--the guitar slays throughout. I agree the vocal needs to come up a bit, and definitely think you can lose the effect on the vocal--there's a strong voice behind it that gets lost in the buzz and diminishes what is otherwise just a killer, killer tune. (And thanks for posting the lyrics . . . I was struggling following it, but again I think that corrects itself with upping the vocals, etc.)

But that aside, I love the melody to this song (the chorus especially), I love the song, I love its warm groove . . . Ronnie, this is a really cool song! Very commercially appealing. Incredibly listenable--adjust those vocals a bit and you've got a hell of a tune. Fantastic work, really!

Good luck with this one . . . it should (and I think will) garner a lot of attention.

Gosh gee wiz, thanks.

As for the vocal tuning. If you heard my original track, you'd say I need an different singer or please tune it. As I'm not a very good singer, And don't generally let songs out that I've sung.

That said, it's Roland V-Vocal and while I lean towards country, EDM and pop is so big now with country being diluted from all sides, I thought what the heck, and stair stepped the vocal transitions for all it's worth. - could have been worse. It's about 2 young poor kids (as we were once) so I thought go ahead and try (at 56) to hit the ball their way.

There was a typo in the lyrics. it's "Now it's stuck in second gear" - not suck.

Somewhere along the line I had the ohh la las on the entire intro like at the end, then went back to what you hear today. I had been playing the fiddle for 4 days when I did that bit in the intro.

imo...it is a very pretty and well written tune. To my ear, it subtly recalls some 60's melodies without being obvious about it.

My suggestions;
Replace the vocalist with someone whose timbre renders it more fully. The vocal sounds a little flat and monotone-ish.
The mix is murky. I agree with the guitar being obvious and driving it but there needs to be more clarity.
And the cowbell is a little too much cowbell...imo.

Having said all that, if this were my song I would want it to sound as good as it could, because I think that it is that appealing.

If interested in any of that....I suggest Mike Z here for production and nashvilletrax.com for a vocalist. Ask for Bill. Good quality for a reasonable price. Brent Mason did guitar tracks for one of my songs and I did not even ask for him or know that he was a possibility.

Very nice tune. Wish I had written it.

Yep nice track Ronnie...very lively as well....I could see a big band doing it on stage to a massive crowd, and the crowd would join in massively.

God Bless to all

Hi Ronnie ...

Good to "meet" you!

I like the song ... I like it a lot! I do agree with previous comments that the vocal could be a little more up front in the mix. I also think the vocal affect is more distracting than helpful. But those two things aside, this is really good listen! I like the pop-country feel ... we've been know to do a few of them! The guitar intro was great! It's catchy and instantly suggests a great little tune. And it is!

That's how it see it ... a great song that might be improved by bringing the vocal a little more forward and dropping that short vocal affect. It's a really good song with well-thought-0out backing tracks and has a lot of promise. I can this as a Dierks Bentley or Billy Currington song.

Nicely done., Good luck with it. Wishing you the best ...
