I thought this would be an interesting music topic, and a nice recollection for some.

Cast you mind back or maybe not, is there a song that has always remained with you since you first heard it on JPF.

I'm talking about a song that moved you. (and obviously not your own lol)

As soon as I asked myself the question, A song came into my mind. It's by Scott Campbell and is called,

Arizona

https://www.soundclick.com/music/songInfo.cfm?songID=8748177

I hope that Scott doesn't mind me adding the link here to the song.

Add to the list if you like

God Bless to all

Roy

Hi Roy,

There so many I listen to still..if I had to choose one..I'd say, "Beach Chalet" by Tom Franz (2012)

Like Louis Twinn's, Tom's voice just instantly makes me choke up and fight to hold back tears. This song especially when he sings

Where everyone it seems
Seeks to be redeemed
Where dreams do not come true
But kindness can slip through

Hey Roy:

There have been so many great songs posted here at JPF... but I was really pleasantly surprised today by a brand new post by "Two Singers" called, "Heart Broke in LA!"

I hope all is well with you "across the pond" old pal! ----Dave

I'm glad you posted this Roy. I have not been here as long as most of you and I look forward to checking out the golden oldies that people mention. There are bound to be a few gems.

For me, I think it would have to be Martin Lide's song cycle from a few months ago, especially "Now I Know."

Quite a few years ago, Mark Kaufman posted a song I still remember so well. I've not yet found the link but will add it to this post if i do find it. It was called "El Dorado". Although it's been many years, it still crosses my mind quite frequently.

Thanks, Roy. I'm glad that song had some staying power smile

The song that always comes to my mind when I think of my JPF greatest hits is "I'm Like Brooklyn " by Mike Caro. smile

Honored to be mentioned by Al, an exceptionally gifted and accomplished musician.

The one that really got me and continues to get me is Rikki Bellos' "He Rides".

https://soundcloud.com/rickib/he-rides

She has a lot of great songs, and so do a lot of other members—picking favorites is not my strong suit, but I really love how this song sounds and how the message resonates. It sounds like a lost classic of folk rock, and it delivers a dose of pain and longing that translates to pleasure. Just a fantastic song.

I think that if I were to pick a fav on here, it would be more of a shared wavelength, or a reflection of my own writing.... than truly objective.
I've seen a lot of songs that resonated me. Seen at least some part of some song that I really liked in just about everyone who posts here regularly.

That's not much of an answer, but it's truthful.

Too many great songs to single any one song out, not to mentions there are some songs that I might connect more lyrically with and others for their melody/musical composing--but what a treat when both are present along with a great vocal performance, musicianship, and a decent production! I say "decent production," as some of the best songs I've seen around here have been modest productions.

But Roy's question did cause me to think of some great songwriters & performers that haven't been around in a while.......The artist that I miss seeing in the MP3 forum the most would be Doug Healy--he wrote great melodies with great hooks, interesting concise lyrics, and had IMO a professional vocal quality that you recognize immediately as him.

Thanks Mike. It's her hip. She had a labral tear last year and the surgeon botched the repair. So another surgeon had to fix it just recently. She is laid up for a while. I will pass on your well wishes.

Regarding the songs...you made all of them rewarding and pleasurable.

It's a bit like somebody asking you, which son or daughter do you like best, and then you answering in front of them.

Don't quite get it.

I dont think ive heard anything that would make me go out and buy it. Just being honest. Might be because most people dont have that kind of quality recordings. That's not to say I haven't heard some really good stuff, I have. There were a few songs that I listened to more than one time, and that's a very good sign.

But im sure there are people reading saying, "f this guy, he didnt mention me...." I havent said that cause I dont think I have good enough recordings of my songs to make a big impression. Workin on that.

For me, most times I dont understand why I like a song, and I think here, maybe i overthink, and all of us over emphasize un important things. Ie. if we read the lyric before we listen, game over.

Off the top of my head songs I listened to more than once, and said wow, that's really good. let me mull it

Here is one song I distinctly remember for being so under the radar. Wendy Dumond?

Decisions Made By Primates

For some reason, I said this is a great song. Others may not agree, but it had something that made it different than the standard fare. The unusual title, the bare arrangement and the voice was just perfect.

I thought this was great... Reminded me of Suzanne Vega Or Tori Amos or something.

Let me find some more.

My boy Gocart done good on this one. I recall listening to this like 10 times in one sitting. Just hit me. I actually enjoyed his first version better than the other additions, but thats one I remember.

Again, it's a vibe, a song should make you feel something, I felt that one.

There was a song by Paul Evans? Paul Pederson?

I dont know if he still lurks around, but I thought it was an absolute killer song. I know it was set somewhere in Jersey, and Im not a huge country fan, but was a heck of a song.

I always remember this tune.

This one stands out as well. I think Todd comes up with some cool rock stuff. Alot of it goes unoticed, cause its less singer songwriter and more band ish.

I remember hearing this and thinking REM and college radio. Really catchy stuff

I thought this would be an interesting music topic, and a nice recollection for some.

Cast you mind back or maybe not, is there a song that has always remained with you since you first heard it on JPF.

I'm talking about a song that moved you. (and obviously not your own lol)

Again, it's a vibe, a song should make you feel something, I felt that one.

Thanks Fd

Very nice of you to mention the song. smile

It's not for any honorable reason that I remember this song. As a matter of fact I don't remember what song it was but it was Floyd Jane and I went, "Crap, that sounds just like Nashville radio country" licked my wounds and went back to what I do.
