I have the rough recording ready to go and will post it in a day or two. I like to "preach" to myself before I ever ask anyone to do the same.
Human Kindness
VERSE
Patience is a virtue That hides inside a drawer Sitting in my room Something I ignore
Indifference lays beside me While I try to sleep Get up in the morning It always follows me
CHORUS
I need to try some Human Kindness Got to give it all I’ve got I owe it to myself And everybody else Oh Human Kindness
I need to try some Human Kindness Got to give it all I’ve got
VERSE
When tragedy strikes others I hide in my cave Crouching in the dark Why be so afraid?
Others need my help When they are all alone I must stop wasting time And leave the safety of my home
CHORUS
I need to try some Human Kindness Got to give it all I’ve got I owe it to myself And everybody else Oh Human Kindness
I need to try some Human Kindness Got to give it all I’ve got
Bridge or Verse change up
Oh Human Kindness Come on out I know you there Show the world That you care

Hi Jane, I think this is very good. It made me think of "Easy To Be Hard" --but that song asks questions like "how can people be so heartless" and your lyric is more inward directed and brave that way and doubles as a beautifully writ self-affirmation and is really nothing like the Three Dog Night hit.. --and thanks for this. It was just what I needed to feel a little braver. Mike

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the nice things you said about the lyric - I work customer service (sometimes not so nice, some angry and some violent at times) so I have to remind myself constantly to be kind no matter what they say or do to me - not "just because" they are paying me to.

What very very beautiful lyrics Jane. And the sentiments are spot on for so many.
God Bless to all

I like this. It has a great hook, and because it is inward-focused doesn't come across as preachy. The only thing I'd change is the first word. "Patience" really doesn't have much to do with the message. I would open with: ..or not if you don't agree Good work Paul

Hi Roy
Glad you liked my lyrics. Thanks for the help on the bridge.
Hi Paul
That's a thought. - I am working on the bridge also so it's in the works. Glad you like it.
