I Know A Good Thing When It's Gone
I know a good thing when it's gone, and it just left me I can say you told me so,now you can bet me I'll be crying all night long, singing a sad sad song I know a good thing when it's gone, and it just left me
I never thought about a love for me I was too busy living foot loose and fancy free But underneath that neon moon Her love hit me with a different tune
You never seen two lovers like us She was the rain that settled my dust But as always i fall back and get muddy And they warned me,"hey, you're gonna lose her buddy"
I know a good thing when it's gone, and it just left me I can say you told me so,now you wanna bet me I'll be crying all night long, singing a sad sad song I know a good thing when it's gone, and it just left me
She put up with me for a little while But soon got tired when it started to pile Now i can't blame her for hitting the road It's too late but i realize what i been told
I know a good thing when it's gone, and it just left me I can say you told me so,now you can bet me I'll be crying all night long, singing a sad sad song I know a good thing when it's gone, and she just left me

Looks very Rhythmic Michael. Should sing well.
There will always be another song to be written. Someone will write it. Why not you? www.garyeandrews.com

That's a great hook! And as Gary says, it has a rhythm to it that invites a melody. This could be a great song.

Hi Mike, I agree with Gary. Great use of feminine rhymes in the chorus and elsewhere. I was questioning the "it" in "I know a good thing when it's gone" until I realized the "it" specifically referred to her love, not her. I could imagine a medium tempo train beat with this'n.. Solid work, enjoyed the read.. Mike

Hey Michael, good to see you stop by.Well i put the "it" in the chorus just in case someone wanted to change it to "her","him" and take it from there but hey,i do see what you're talking about.I agree,a medium tempo here, not a tearjerker.Thanks.Mike

That was me talking before any caffeine was in me. It's gotta be " it " or the hook make's no sense. It just took me a second to realize that "it" refers to the "good thing" he's taking about, and that thing was "her love" and not her. In fact, if you chose, you could make the bridge say they were still together though very unhappy, instead of "I can't blame her for hitting the road" and the chorus would still work, cuz it's her love that's gone, not necessarily her--until your bridge, that is.. It's perfectly written, just tool me a second to connect what "it" referred to. Mike
