Hi JAPOV,

Welcome to JPF!

Love the world-weary vocals that are perfect for the lyric. Reminds me of the more stripped-down, acoustic blues-rock of some Alvin Lee (Ten Years After) songs, or a tenor Fred Neil. The vocal reverb setting pushes it a little towards an indie folk/psychedelic folk sound.

Nice work, enjoyed it. Could be fleshed out into a bigger production I imagine but this was nice. smile

Btw, just so you know, some may enjoy reading along while listening..gives them something to focus on..

Mike

Lol... "world-weary"... I like that! Yea, I'm always guilty of over-effecting my vox. One day I'll find the "magic setting" that makes me sound like someone else... Thanks Mike smile

All or nothing

Say you love me but I know, honey you don't need me
Well I need someplace to belong
'Cause here we are again, like one step foreward and two steps back
No one's right and honey no one's wrong

We tried so hard, we pushed too fast
We seemed to lose our sense of direction
We reached so high, we never looked back
And our dreams were all we ever wanted to see

We thought we had it all, we had what we wanted to believe
Now that feeling just won't let go
'Cause it's just so hard to see, after all, we've got nothing left to fight for; nothing left to loose
(option to continue with verse....)
Now that all's been said and done, I know there aint' no turning back; No we can't start over
It's time to say good bye, have no regrets
'Cause it's all or nothing

We tried so hard, we pushed too fast
We seemed to lose our sense of direction
We reached so high, we never looked back
And our dreams were all we ever wanted to see
Now it seems like we've been here before
And I don't know if my heart can take this anymore
Yes it seems like I've hurt you before
And honey I don't know if lying's the answer anymore
'Cause it's all or nothing

So Bluesy and real your vocals chronicling the sorrow of two who are no longer compatible. Love the guitar work, your enunciation is spot on and the song is familiar to all listeners who have suffered though such pain. Write on...Right On!!

One must interpert
the daily buzz or weekly treat
and gain a better understanding
of why tortilla chips are
much better hot like a woman
who is making eyes at you
and salsa must be spicy or
it's just tomato goop.
Then of course one's
mind and body are
far more open to the
healthy part of such a drink
sucking on those limes....
Salt on your rim is an option
but sugar is also good.
The glass goblet must be huge
so you can journey your lips
around it several times before
your margarita makes your
mood much sweetah.
Jose Cuervois a stimulant superior
to many street drugs so drink
moderately or at home.
At least at home your bed is
only a Turbulent flight with
no seat belts away.
but you will definintely be more
then a mile high minus the
stewardess who was bored
or a seatmate who was
deeply into you. ................LOL

J:

Thanks for taking time to type out the lyric for us. Matt and Mike pretty well covered things for me... but you need to know that you have a vocal capable of taking you a long way down the music pike. Your writing style is not too shabby either and I really enjoyed your song. Then I read Matt's soliloquy and nearly fell out of my chair. Made my brief visit even more entertaining. So glad you guys have joined, re-joined or decided to start speaking-up... 'cause JPF needs you. Thanks for sharing. Keep it up. ----Dave

Seems to me like ALL the songwriting forums out there are really drying up for some reason.... I believe "money, success, fame, social-status" are the problem. Nobody is doing this just for fun anymore.....

That is probably a true observation. I believe I am guilty as charged... but when it stops being fun... I'll find something else to do. LOL! ----Dave

I enjoyed the listen. My feelings about the song are split.

I like the way it moves from one section to another.
I like the guitar track. Might use a little less reverb and make the guitar sound slightly closer and more intimate. It sounds "roomy" to me.
I think that the vocal melody could be smoother and prettier and more resolved with the guitar.

Overall...nice write.

Martin
