When I Get To Sing (Neil Cotton) https://www.soundclick.com/html5/v4/player.cfm?songID=13885598Something deep inside Feels like a sunny day When I get to sing Any melody Music is my armour That shields the world away It might sound cliche But it’s true for me My spirit’s on the rise Right behind my eyes When I get to sing Some days bring me pain I’m pulled down in a chair When the curse arrives It’s burden holds me there Singing is my saviour That lifts me from despair It might sound cliche But it’s true for me My spirit’s on the rise Right behind my eyes When I get to sing At first glance everything looks good But I have ever shifting moods It might sound cliche But it’s true for me My spirit’s on the rise Right behind my eyes When I get to sing When I get to sing

In my mind this one of the best songs I've written in a long time. Zero comments from 43 views.

But, you DID get 43 Views, and that's something. I see Songs with 100's of Views and no comments. Comments often aren't much more than a compliment without any critique. So it isn't unusual. But, again, 43 Views, and it only takes one to pick up a Song and make it their own.
I just saw a meme on Facebutt that said: "Some days you don't feel like singing. Sing anyway."
There will always be another song to be written. Someone will write it. Why not you? www.garyeandrews.com

Gary, That quote from FB is so true.
Maybe this song is too personal for comments, cause it is.

Hey Neil,
Your lyric I believe speaks for many of us here. Although for me, it is the writing, playing, arranging and producing I enjoy. Honestly, I don't enjoy singing my songs. It is a bit torturous for me. It is all about enjoying what you do. Nothing cliche about that. A very heartfelt write. Congrats.

Hi Neil, I enjoyed my listen. You're voice is craggy and sincere and more tuneful than usual, especially in the chorus. I think the bridge couplet is the only weak spot, as "At first glance everything looks good/But I have ever shifting moods" feels practically like a non-sequitur..but that's all.. Nice work. Mike
Fate doesn't hang on a wrong or right choice Fortune depends on the tone of your voice

Mike Mike, Re the vocal...I tried a different EQ application and was more particular about getting near pitch LOL My thinking was the bridge was simply the truth. The second line amplifying the first. But thanks for giving me something to think about. You comments carry weight.

Neil,
Really like the production on this one—simple backing that works well with the vocal up front. Pretty—particularly on the verses. One of your better vocals as well--and, I agree, this tune is among your best. Nice job!
All the best,
Deej

Hey Neil, you have captured the sheer joy that we all feel when we are given a chance to express ourselves in song. Sincere expressive vocals, Lovely melody and a stellar prduction.
