In part 6 of my light-hearted posture series for guitarists I bring you tips for how to get the best out of playing standing up. This is intended for classical & flamenco guitarists but will benefit guitarists of any style. https://youtu.be/fnFeeUw26ZY

Has any guitarist checked this out? I am curious as to whether you find it helpful?

Yea, chording position actually makes a lot of sense and is actually the way I was taught as a child.... But as I got older I just started chopping the backs out of acoustics to fit around my belly

Has any guitarist checked this out? I am curious as to whether you find it helpful? I dunno Brian. In the context of popular music, it's kind of like having a "breathing coach" to teach you how to breath. Classical is probably more relevant to this instruction.

And yet it's been reported that 60% of musicians in the popular music scene have pain problems from playing: Rigg, J.L., Marrinan, R. and Thomas, M.A. (2003) Playing-Related Injury in Guitarists Playing Popular Music [Online]. Hi,
Yes, there are some good things on it. Many I've used personally. It is primarily for guitarists, which are fine, but I have to address singer songwriters, who are actually more singer writers/ as opposed to guitarists. So while some of it, stance and posture, are vaulable, some, as the different straps, the various chording elements, etc. are not as valuable. All in all, a good overview. The thing that most "singers" tend to need, are breath control (the breathing coach, LOL) projection and ennunciation.
These days it is very hard to understand ONE WORD of what a lot of people are saying. This also can happen with microphone positioning, as a lot of songwriters are not really proficient in guitar playing and have to look away at their neck, thereby missing words. You catch about every third word which can be really confusing. Keyboard players look down so you get a lot of off mic looks or the middle of their foreheads.
A big help to most newer or unexpeirenced performers, is to have them video themselves with a camera phone and have them look at themselves like a sports game film. Helps to keep in mind those things, and pick up a few more.
Nice video. Pretty funny and cool accent.

MAB Yes, I'm a guitarist and my PhD is about guitar, so my videos are of limited value to others. I'm totally with you on the 'not hearing the words' thing, it really annoys me. When it's one voice and one instrument it should be clear what the song is about!
