I am looking at putting my works to where perspective clients can view them. I posted a channel on you tube.
What advice do the members have to bring out a portfolio, you tube or otherwise?

3 of 6 tracks of 2 ep's that are best of the rest. or more like bust of the rust.

That's the trick. You can create a website, a youtube channel, but how do you 'drive' potential consumers to it? I think that's the reason for hashtagging, key words that will come up if someone does a 'search' for anything with those words in it. 'Search engines' are programmed to search for specific words.

Never miss a chance to market. You say you created a youtube channel, but you didn't give the link. It may be that simple. Get it in front of some eyes (ears?) and maybe word of mouth picks it up, takes it viral.

If you can get it reviewed (I'm not sure if we're talking Songs or visual images) sometimes a critic has a following. A thumbs up from them can drive their 'consumers' to your product. A thumbs down might too. People often take a critic's view as a clue that the works are good and the critic full of...whatever critics are full of.

If it's visual 'works' a showing, with media invited to review it, can catapult awareness to a higher level. Audio? Get it out there. Live play. Local radio if you have it and aren't in a radio desert where the music is canned and shipped in from far away.

Get a public commission to do one of your 'works' to a purpose, supporting a local cause, promoting a local company as advertising. If you've got something new, especially if it's unique, especially if it appeals to those who hear? see? it they can help it catch fire by word-of-mouth, perhaps garnering media attention and bigger audiences. Is there product for sale? Downloads? CD's? DVD's? Prints? Is it available any form they want to buy it? T-shirts?

Venues for exposure: College campus. Libraries, often several in any community. Farmer's market? Flea market? Busking? Museum? Corporate events?

There will always be another song to be written. Someone will write it. Why not you? www.garyeandrews.com

A website is pretty much essential. It's not so much that people are going to find you through your website, but rather that it provides an easy way to direct people to all the information you want to present about yourself and your music. You might meet these people in person, online or by some other means of connection. These days, it's easy to create a decent website yourself. If you use Wordpress to do it, you can find a theme that includes a portfolio feature to present your songs. I think other platforms offer similar possibilities.

You can also have a Facebook page as an artist or band and make connections that way. And your YouTube channel, of course.

As Gary says, that's the easy bit. Bringing people to your portfolio is much more challenging. Still, if you don't have these things in place, you don't have anything to bring them to.

Thanks Gary and Dave.
I have not looked at tagging and posting as much as just posting that mp3 or 4 on a site.
I am looking at getting my stuff out to where it is available. Hashtagging would prevent more of these long, anononous strgs.
I am going to look at the marketing end more once I have a connection other than a mobile phone or the library. I have been interested in marketing for several years.
Even outside of performing arts

I revisited and see your comment about exploring marketing. Alexis Feodor seems to be talking about that sort of thing, exploring outside the art world, for commerce, and income, and enhancing your artistic endeavors at the same time. Egad! The link below takes you to a Facebutt page. I don't know what all that code is!
