Whenever I need an ego wake-up call, Iíll listen to this: https://www.bing.com/videos/search?...09901E7CD3E99082020&&FORM=VRDGAR Ö that will always put me in my place. Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No.2 in C minor. Makes me want to be a better composer, pianist, musician... This is greatness. It sends chills through my spine.

For me...

Frank Lloyd Wright, Michaelangelo, Da Vinci.

How is it possible for a human being to be as intimidatingly talented and prolific as those three?
Some of the brainpower of these people behind the tech revolution today seems just as extraordinary..

Aw, yes,
I have two different CD's of Rachmaninoff's. Gary Graffman and Arthur Rubenstein. May not be spelled correctly. If I remember correctly he lost his will or some such thing to compose and was coaxed back to composing. It was then he composed the 2nd Piano concerto. Truly a masterpiece.

I have heard, and subscribe to it wholly, it as a writer, do not try to write like others. But always do your own thing as A: It's easier and more natural for you and B: You never know what niche you may fall into.

I like pop country. To record it play it and perform it. It never comes out as such. Too Minnefornia I am I suppose. So what ever comes out of the rumpus room is what comes out. Forget about everyone else especially those who make you feel bad.

Quote from Delouie.... "Same with musical composition. Robbie Robertson was arguably the least musically talented member of The Band, Garth Hudson being the most. Robbie was the writer. Garth can't write"

I actually went one step further and listed guys who compose AND write songs. Clapton never claimed to be Rachmaninoff, and I dont think any rock or blues musician is on that level of greatness, or even believes they are. But then again it's a different genre. Rachmaninoff will never plays the blues either.

At the end of the day, "i know its only rock n roll but I like it" It was never meant to be Rachmaninoff.

But Eric Clapton can compose and can write. He's also arguably the best rock blues guitarist to ever live, and he sings, and he performs.

The problem with you is you make the target so far away nobody can hit it, but for some reason you think you hit it

"this guy only has a few songs.... " just about every major artist out there is known for a few songs, aside The Beatles. It doesnt mean they cant write because they only have a handful of classicly epic songs, it just means that few songs become classically epic at all

The subject became "great musicians cant compose" Its simply not true. in fact, the better the musician you are, the better you can compose

I dont think Robbie Robertson was a "Composer" he's a songwriter, a good one, but I dont expect a symphony out of him

I just thought of something....If Rachmaninoff wasn't such a great musician, this composition wouldn't exist.

Ahh the holes of an argument....

I don't know which people specifically you have in mind, but in general, the "tech" barons are less than impressive and rarely creative. They are usually blunt force trauma cutthroat business people with little creativity. Sure, a few did some programming, but most of the ones you know simply hired the talent. I am a good friend of one of the actual geniuses of the tech world, he created the MP3 player that Google, Yahoo, AOL and others used in the early days of the internet which could efficiently grab files, load them and play them instantly, which was no small feat. Even he uses very specialized genius level programmers who can be so focused on unique skills that in some cases the guys he would hire were one of 3 in the entire world with a specific skill to do what he envisioned. He's also a musician/songwriter and he runs his own company with his business partner. He's the creative guy, the partner is the Face of the company and the brunt force brutal business guy. They all need each other, but usually the creativity guys are behind the scenes. The faces can also be downright evil people. I mean next level evil people. They slit anyone's throat over nickle, steal tech or intellectual property in a blink, lie about everything on a pathological level (we see that every time one of them testifies, every word they speak is a lie in most cases). The crap these guys and companies are doing to our world civilization is irreversible and dangerous as hell. My recent post "and now for something different" shows the public stuff they admit to, but it doesn't scratch the surface of what they can and are already doing. I can't speak about it due to NDA's but I can generalize and say some of the stuff they can do you would not believe even if you saw it first hand. It would appear either to be magic, or you simply would not even understand it. I know I didn't understand parts of it 17 years ago when I first saw some of it. I only started really putting it together a few years ago and now I see it crystal clear, but there is newer stuff I have seen that is still a mystery to me even though I saw it with my own eyes. You actually question yourself after you see it. The terrifying info they have on each of us is shocking. This is just the LEGAL stuff they have put together on every living human being. You don't have to have been on the Internet, you don't have to have been out in public much either. They know EVERYTHING about you with shocking (and even embarrassing) accuracy. The tech that produces this info is so complex and the way it can be presented is indescribable to do it any justice. But in my opinion, it is beyond evil. It is dehumanizing. It is destructive. In fact I was told they couldn't show me a lot of stuff because it would be so disturbing to learn that people have mental and emotional breakdowns after seeing and learning it. And I BELIEVE them. And I am sad to report, there is nothing we can do to put the genie back in the bottle.

There's no good spin I can put on it. Should this all be fully unleashed on humans, there will be little left of a civil society. Sci Fi movies they make do no justice to what they can already do and they told me I haven't really seen ANYTHING compared to what else there is, and in truth I wouldn't be able to fully comprehend it.

There's a reason why I try to live my life to enjoy it. I don't worry about money (money is an illusion). I try to focus on quality of life as much as I can. Trust me, as things stand today, we have no power to do anything about it. Short of defending ourselves from each other, these companies are far more powerful than any government, any military and here's the kicker: The companies you think you know by name are not really the people in charge of things. Resistance is futile. They put that out into the lexicon for a reason. Only we're not going to find a plucky young woman to kick butt and take the world back. That only happens in the programmed movies.

The script is written and for the most part, we are all non player characters in it.

Brian
