LOVE PLACED YOU RIGHT IN MY WAY
Your love is pure as cool spring water For me it’s new as morning dew Where have you been while I suffered With those others before I found you
OTHERS WANTED ALL I COULD GIVE IT WAS ALL THEM I HAD NO SAY MY HEART LOST ITS WAY OFTEN BUT LOVE PLACED YOU RIGHT IN MY WAY
Roads I travelled were gravel and bumpy With allures as hurt me detours My head and heart were not talkin’ But kept walkin till they fell for you
OTHERS WANTED ALL I COULD GIVE IT WAS ALL THEM I HAD NO SAY MY HEART LOST ITS WAY OFTEN BUT LOVE PLACED YOU RIGHT IN MY WAY
Open and honest Almost flawless Sweetly unrushed A love I can trust
OTHERS WANTED ALL I COULD GIVE IT WAS ALL THEM I HAD NO SAY MY HEART LOST ITS WAY OFTEN BUT LOVE PLACED YOU RIGHT IN MY WAY

Looks like a simple Song Neil, and those can work wonderfully. A nice Hook/title. Fate. Serendipity. The mysterious tactics of Love, and there she is, right in your way!
There will always be another song to be written. Someone will write it. Why not you? www.garyeandrews.com

I think it's a real good song Neil,
I like the idea that when your looking for love they all go sour, but when your not looking the right one slaps you in the face so to speak.

Liked: The title. The first verse. The chorus...but I had a suggestion:
Your love is pure as cool spring water For me it’s new as morning dew Where have you been while I suffered Through the others-waiting for you
WHEN THEY WANTED ALL I COULD GIVE I REALIZED I HAD NO SAY MY HEART LOST ITS WAY OFTEN THEN LOVE PLACED YOU RIGHT IN MY WAY
Loved that bridge.
Didn't care for the 2V.
Best of luck Neil! -Mike

Neil,
Like what you have going on here . . . My own suggestion for the first two lines of the chorus might be just "They wanted all I could give, seemed I never had a say . . . " But it all depends on the melody and how many syllables (and the prosody) they you have to work with.
One additional thought: I think the use of "Way" in "My heart lost its way often," diminishes a bit the "in my way" hook in the last line. That, too, depends on the melody, etc. . . . but maybe a different phrasing of that third line without the word "way"?
Nice start here--keep it going!
All the best,
Deej
