Titles have always made all the difference. It's the "cover" the book is judged by contrary to the famous saying, most people can only judge a book by it's paper book cover and the picture on the front and summary on the back They literally judge the book by the cover in deciding whether to use it. It's an example of the lies we're told and we have pounded into our brains supposedly to teach us a lesson when it is, at best, an opinion that the masses just accept as true. In truth, cover art is the #1 reason why people buy or pass on a book. (with the exception of the book authors name and attached reputation/past work if the buyer is familiar). Among books where you have no knowledge of the author, all you have is the propaganda of the book cover to decide.
It's like most songs on Spotify or any other digital realm. If people haven't heard the song, they are clicking only on the title of the song. That never shows whether it is good or bad, just how well the title got people's interest. The same with YouTube. The most clickbait titles get the most clicks. Even if the video sucks, you still clicked it. The ad is usually at the start so the money is made before you hear a word. And even if you downvote, it helps the video (most don't understand this). The biggest money makers? They are the videos that evoke anger in people. They will share that video more often if it pisses them off than if they love it. Rage clicks make money. They are easy to create in this rage society. Music is a little different, but not a lot. The title is all they have to go by. Make it count.
In terms of this message board, the right title can ALSO bring in people searching for something other than a lyric or song. They see the results matching their search and they see it is a site they haven't heard of so we get a lot of curiosity clicks or mistaken clicks. It's all in the title. Our top posts ever list can teach you about search engine draws. Ourstage for a brief time was one of the most popular sites on earth. At the time they were sponsors of us, we helped them grow from a few thousand people to over 60K almost immediate upon them sponsoring us. After the year was up, they started to grow past us to much much much larger than us. But it created two of the top five posts on our site because they were expanding so quickly. It's a testament to their marketing efforts and to our community back at that time. Those were the last great days of Internet Message Boards prior to Facebook etc.

Titles mean a great deal in songwriting. Not every song can have a flashy title but if you are consistently unable to come up with worthwhile titles, your lyrics are probably just as weak. A person without a sharp title most likely won't know how to write to the hook he does have. It all ties in...weak foundation, weak frame = a lyric made of straw.
Internet acquaintances won't care but a publisher with a stack of cds on his desk or an inbox full of mp3s is gonna play the ones with a good title and backburner the rest.
That's reality.
