Driving me crazy. It played on "The Bad Seed" today. The psycho little girl's name was Rhoda. I remember giving this tune to some of my younger students.

Piano short: http://schicksville.com/The%20Bad%20Seed%20-%20Rhoda.mp3

Best, John smile

I wonder if that cellphone program can recognize melodies? I think it is only exact recordings in their library. My friend showed me that technology working way back in the 90's but it took a long long time to get it actually working commercially.

They used to have a standard of needing 3 seconds of any recording in their database to identify it within seconds. That was back in the late 90's! I can't imagine how much more they can do. They have bots that scour ALL of YouTube for any video or audio violations and they have a nasty scam (both legit companies and completely fraudulent companies) who copyright strike videos meaning they get to choose whether to:

A. Have the video removed.
B. Let it remain, but demonetize it completely

or

C. Let it remain, but take 100% of the earnings for the lifetime of the video which can be 6 figures for very large view counts.

Guess which one they choose? Yup. C. There are companies formed to send out bogus challenges non stop with super threatening letters in legalese that scare most content creators. They don't even have to identify what exactly they are disputing. Once a claim is filed, the creator immediately loses control of the video (outside of deleting it 100% and giving up any money already earned) and no matter what happens, they lose the money during the "review" process which happens when you dispute a false claim, which gives them 30 days to respond to your rebuttal. By that time they have squelched your info (if you say give a bad review of a product like a movie review) until it is irrelevant and thus they remove any negative reviews by anyone who can inform the masses. OR they just screw over productive people making a living honestly. And there's no penalty for making a false claim. In some cases they are honestly just trying to find infringement, so their bots just make mistakes but it still screws people over.

This is the danger of AI. Algorithms may find a lot of things, but it also makes a lot of mistakes because it can't comprehend "context" of anything. Legit criticism, fair use, parody, comedy are all lost on a bunch of digits and characters combining. Free Speech is lost along with it.

I REMEMBER Using one particular WEB SITE that claimed to be able to tell

you if your melody was an infringement of a Well Known Hit Song

I gave them eight notes with all their correct values and The Responses were

nothing short of stupid . Another Rip Off To Avoid

One of the most important principles of songwriting is to remember that a good song is a partnership of many different components, all working together to produce a satisfying musical experience.

In that respect, song components are either enhancing or compromising their combined effects.

Aw,Humm,
Now I remember a T.V. show about naming a Tune in so many Notes. Some said they could Name that Tune in one Note. Well it has been a long time....
