Just finished this one.
Quite happy with it so far but in a day or two I might think of something else to put in or take out of it.
What do you all think?

v1
We have stopped in time on that borderline
thinking ...
forward, back or to the side?
Once again it seems like a crazy dream
Looking for a place to hide
or a place to cry
Ch.
So we take love slow
That's the way love flows
Love is hard to find
We get lost sometimes
Love is blind
We get lost sometimes
v2
Who knows how we rode that weaving road
most times our thoughts carried a heavy load
Made a few mistakes, had a few heartaches
then turn to find our way home
No more to roam
Ch.
So we take love slow
That's the way love flows
Love is hard to find
We get lost sometimes
Love is blind
We get lost sometimes

Thank you Neil.
The chorus was a little of me thinking out of the box. Trying to make it stand out from the verse.

Vic,

Like what I’m hearing—nice, inviting opening. Yeah, that chorus is interesting and fresh . . . and really matches the lyric. The one immediate thought I has as I listened to the chorus was to repeat the “Love is hard to find, we get lost sometimes” line a bit more quickly, rather than pausing between the two . . . it’s such a nice hook, I’m hungry to get hit with it again. But as I listened, not sure it works musically, and I think you made a great choice to go as you did.

This is a really nice tune, Vic. Enjoyed it a lot!

Regards, sir,

Deej

Hi Deej.
Thanks as always for chipping in.
Not really sure what you mean. Do you mean faster on the first lines of the chorus: "So we take love slow. That's the way love flows"?

I like this very much, Vic. I can hear some backing singers inserting an "ooh ooh" between "take "and "love" in the first line of the chorus and maybe elsewhere.

At first I thought it could maybe do with being just a little faster, but then I got used to the pace, and I'm not so sure any more.

Thanks Gavin.
I did try it a few beats slower which seemed to drag, then a few faster which seemed to take away that world weariness feeling.

I may give your "oooh ooohs" a try though.
Thanks for the input.

Hey, Vic,

Sorry, I guess I wasn’t clear and I’m not sure it was even worth commenting on—because the song is terrific. What I was trying to convey was that as I was listening to it the first time I anticipated (wrongly) that the 5th and 6th line would mirror more in melody the 3rd and 4th line—or just the 5th the 3rd to create a refrain of sorts—I think that shift in pacing from the slower first two lines to that great 3rd line melody really made me eager to hear that third line again, if that makes sense. But it went it a different and better direction—which is obvious the more I listen to the song.

So, in short, totally ignore my nonsensical comment! :-)

And as for the first two lines of the chorus I think they are fine, and that the bpm is just about right. I’d stay with them as is.

Cheers!

Dave

It sounds really good, the little quiet spaces remind me of Tom Petty's "room at the top" or other tunes from him, in the chorus. In the verses it might hurt the flow of it using all that spacing between lines. The nice effect of it going into the chorus gives it a nice changeup.

If it were mine id use more melody and lyric in the verse and then use the shortening effect of the chorus for a better contrast, but that may just be me.

I enjoyed listening.

Yes you're right there about "Room at the top" Fdemetrio.
The thing is, if I did as you suggest I may end up with that same song.

Thanks for the comments.

Hey Vic,

Not taken with this one. In hearing your previous works, I find this dull and un-interesting.

Sorry bud, into the bin.

Hahaha! Well, if it's not your cup of tea there's no more to say Nite but I won't chuck it in the bin just yet if that's ok.

Thanks for the listen.

Good production. But I don't get a sense of a Singer-Character telling an experience from a personal point-of-view. It seems like a philosophical comment on the love-experience in general. I don't get a sense of a Love-Interest Character with whom the Song is conversing. A Bridge might supply some of that pivotal personal touch.

There will always be another song to be written. Someone will write it. Why not you? www.garyeandrews.com

Hi Glyn
As ever, you are so generous in your comments. Thank you.

Vic

It's never too late? Yes it is, so do it now.

If, given time, a monkey can write the complete works of Shakespeare maybe there's hope for me.

Thanks for the interesting comment Gary.
This was written from the narrator's point of view from his own personal love experience and possibly love experience in general so you are right there.

Just Plain Quotes
"A lot of people will tell you that preparation is what will make you successful. But I think that people misunderstand exactly what that means sometimes. The type of preparation you need most is the kind that allows you to instantly seize an opportunity, change your course based on a momentary circumstance, and grab hold of the totally unexpected when it happens, and allow it to take you for the ride of your life! That is the kind of preparation that can lead to the most enjoyable type of success." -Brian Austin Whitney
