Hello,
I was advised by Dave Rice to post about my songwriting interests if I wanted collaborators so here goes. Right now I'm purely a lyricist, I cannot speak, therefore, sing due to a disability I have, nor do I play any instruments either. Sometimes lyrics do just come to me, and other times, I have to sit at my computer, but even then, it's really only a few minutes longer, it comes pretty naturally to me. I really enjoy words from the heart a lot so that's what I stick with when writing, real-life scenarios and whatever I'm feeling about that scenario at the time. In order to collaborate with me, you'll have to bring your A game, that means be a strong lyricist, know how to write melodies and implement them. emilyangeloff@gmail.com

Knowing which part of the collaboration you will provide is what most folks look for in joint song-writing efforts. Now that you've identified your role of providing lyrics... let me suggest you spend time on any (or all) of the three Lyric Forums. This does not mean you should not spend time at the MP3 forum but that is primarily for listening to songs in various stages of completion. (Most of the heavy-lifting has already been done by the team or individual involved.)

I would remiss if I did not describe the "Pyramid Analogy" which best describes the mixture of folks involved in this intricate process. At the top are the Performers who also write both lyrics and melodies. The next level appears to be melody and lyric writers who don't want to perform. Then we find a third level near the top... of melody creators only. Just below that are lyricists who can rough-out the general melody in at least in a series of chords.

Regretfully, the lowest and largest part of the Pyramid Base are lyricists... and there are layers there as well. Those who write well, have great interpersonal skills (work well with others) and understand that a line here or a word there may need to be changed or revised as the work progresses. Many of these lyricists have a track record of proven participation. Most of these will "knock out a lyric" which can be "put to music" with little or no revisions required.

Below that are those who don't understand the difference between lyrics and poems, are unwilling to change anything about their first pass at a lyric and have little or no music education or understanding. This level describes most lyric writers who enter the fray as "newbies" every day... and quickly leave at about the same rate because of their unwillingness to constructively collaborate.

I began my less than auspicious "career" in this thing we call music and song-writing... at the very bottom rung of the Pyramid's Ladder. I thought every word I "put to paper" was golden... and cast in stone! Fortunately, I also began with a patient partner who believed I could eventually become more than I was. He could provide the melody and vocal to those lyrics I would provide him. I was often irritated because he did not choose to "musicate" every lyric I sent him... or he had the audacity to suggest changes (I call that part of the process "Shoehorning") to make the line or word match the melody he would create.

I suspect I did not need to explain any of this to you... but please remember, we have new visitors to Brian's site every day and many are seeking the same success as you and me.

As always, best wishes for success. I am nearing the end of my song-writing journey and have accepted the fact that it will probably never be more than a hobby for me.

PS: It is up to you, but you likely would do better if you used an actual name. Many spammers and trolls use numbers or nonsense names to sign up with and people may be hesitant to trust you initially. A real first name is often enough, no need to post your real/entire name like many of us do until/unless you are comfortable here. Even "Daydreaming Em" would likely work better. It is up to you. You can change things in your profile by clicking My Stuff at the top middle of the page where you will find all sorts of options and your personal messages should you send/receive.

Also, never agree to pay someone money if they approach you for something on our boards. Only people we have vetted directly are allowed to do that and anyone else would be a risk. Always feel free to ask about any service, website, company, offering, etc. you are considering and chances are someone here will have experience with them or know the warning signs if it sounds like a bad idea.
