Common sense would say, never discuss religion and politics with family or friends. However, how will meaningful change in our country come about without radical counterintuitive thinking and engagement? There is a common middle ground, a way of thought and action that can exist on both ends of the political spectrum. The kind of thinking and doing Jesus brought to the table, a shockingly countercultural way of life. Like the parable of the Good Samaritan, our love for our neighbors shouldnít have barriers. Could it be that our country needs this now more than ever?
I hope you enjoy this small effort toward turning the tide because love canít be outdone.
Thanks for listening in and for those who can, leaving your thoughts,

Go ahead and spew your, white washed rendition
Convolute and misconstrue our, old, traditions
Duplicate and replicate news of every nature
But your gossipís not my gospel, I love my Savior

Iím more than this body, not defined by your story
My hope is in the love of God
In grace He bestowed my destiny
His love became the reason for me.
His love became the reason for me.

Were the poor, strangers and exiles refused in His day
Your way or my way, it can be both I pray
Our parties need to be in communion with each other
Let me show you where we go, from here my brother

Be more than your body, not defined by their story
Put your hope in the love of God
In grace He bestowed your destiny
His love became the reason for you.
His love became the reason for you.

You see,
Lifeís not about us, & not about their will
Lifeís about love, the love weíre made to become
Let our spirit sing, cuzí love canít be outdone

Be more than your body, not defined by their story
Put your hope in the love of God
In grace He bestowed our destiny
His love became the reason for us.
His love became the reason for us.

His love canít be outdone, itís the only reason for us

I think that it's lovely and well executed. Thanks for posting up.

You have a beautiful song here. This is a great concept in bringing those opposing sides within our society together in harmony through love of mankind and God. I get your drift.

I do think the Bridge might be improved lyrically as it may be a tad trite where it could IMO be more profound. The 2nd line especially, I might not use "Life's" a 2nd time there--be more direct with line two. Also in the 1st bridge line, instead of "their will" you could maybe use this whole phrase, "not our will, by Thy will." This brings that famous line from The Lord's prayer into the song, yet also could be accurate within your story. These are only sugs, certainly not major nits--use or lose.

Beautiful song swestern!

Thanks for sharing, Skip:

Let's hope the "message" finds ears capable of reasoning and love... and in it's own small way, help to turn us away from the path of darkness many have chosen to follow. ----Dave

beautiful song. I don't consider myself religious either but it paints a beautiful picture just the same of the glory (at least in my spiritual mind) of creation and wonder and existence. Lovely!!

Thank you for chiming in despite your non-religious nature. I noticed you are an architect, as I am, so, I know you understand how it takes many people coming from many varied viewpoints to bring about a new creation. It is this kind of mentality and cooperation toward a shared vision that I can hope for our leaders and our country.

Thank you for your kind remarks. I think there is merit in your suggestions. I might keep "Life's" in the second line though because that one seems more important and change it up in the first line. In the first line, using the reference back to the Lord's Prayer certainly would make it stronger also. Thanks for sharing these thoughts.

Well, I will have to leave it up to the Holy Spirit to get it to the "right" ears to hear. It's out there on the web so it is capable of going anywhere and everywhere at His whim. I will pray He has already prepared the right ears to hear.
As a history buff, you probably know that Mark Twain is sometimes given credit for theorizing that "History doesn't repeat itself, but it does rhyme." Rhyming kind of infers intent so I come away thinking the people/our leaders are so angry with each other they can't see the light of day and they are bent on destroying any good idea the other person may suggest at the expense of everyone.

Thank you for the high praise, means a lot from a creative free-spirit like yourself.

I'm not much of a religious person either, but I think this is well done. The melody of the chorus is the kind of thing that people like to sing along to in church. In comparison, the verses are a little flat - not that that is a problem if you are listening (I enjoyed it), but they don't have the same sing-along quality as the chorus.

Thanks for listening in and sharing your kind comment.

I wonder if maybe the 2 verses, being somewhat critical and negative in nature, makes them not as easy to sing along with. I'll have to give that some more thought, look for something similar that has been done before.

Thanks for your time and effort, your comments are greatly appreciated.
Can't help but wonder, if we will ever find a common-ground among all people, to live in peace and harmony without seeing God as our Creator and Savior. How will people ever view their neighbor as their equal?

I always enjoy your tunesóitís not my genre but you put together a compelling sound, melody and production. And this is no exception. Very reminiscent to me of a One Republic tune (your vocal in particular)óso very contemporary sound. Nicely done! Enjoyed this one.

All the best,

Thank you very much for your comments. It is especially kind since this genre isn't one you particularly lean toward but you still took time to comment, I appreciate that.
Thanks again,
