Title: Man Of Many Hats (c) All Rights Reserved, 08/18/2009 Fran Williams Man Of Many Hats V1) Daddy was a hard working man, the best of all A collection of the jobs and things he loved Hanging on the special hat rack shining like a star Memories of him are hats, still hanging on my wall V2) As I touch, his old fishing hat, it has a great story and that old rugged hat, he wore when he was plowing His special ole' dented helment, from that crazy war Dad's old football helmet, when he was in his glory Chorus) Special memories kept in a plastic bag the smell of his best cologne and his hair Still lingers on all, daddy's special hats The hats Daddy wore to Church on Sunday and the things Dad loved along life's way Daddy was a man of many hats, many hats Bridge) Daddy was a man of many hats one for each and every occasion I even kept the special hat he wore to my high school graduation He was a man of many hats, he worked hard and loved his family Special hats are hanging there on my wall, for all the world to see Repeat Chorus) Tag) Along the hallway, hanging on my wall are hats, and memories of a special man Daddy was a man of many hats, many hats Treasured hats, and they are loved by all PS, all advice and suggestions for music are appreciated. There is a second version of this lyric, that was written by Gary E. Andrews as a co-write with me..I will post it later..Thanks.. Fran Williams

Title: Man Of Many Hats (c) All Rights Reserved, 10/30/2010 Gary E. Andrews/Fran Williams
Man Of Many Hats
Daddy was a man of many hats For whatever the occasion might call They're our treasured memories Hanging in the hall There's his favorite fishing hat Where he hung it up last Fall To hear him tell the story He nearly caught them all You know the tale grew tall Daddy was a Man Of Many Hats
Daddy, was a man of many hats The right one for whenever he went out Each one of us can tell you What they're all about There's the broad-brimmed floppy hat He wore when he had to plow We use to ride the tractor I'd love to ride it now To see his sunny face Now the plowing is hired out Daddy was a Man Of many Hats
Bridge) Blue hats and black hats A cowboy hat with feathers A baseball cap he'd throw on the ground The one made out of leather Daddy was A Man Of Many Hats
I smell his best cologne The stuff he put on his hair The hat he wore to church on Sunday I think I'll leave it hanging there The hat he brought home from the war It's worn and torn to rags Now it's time to take them down To store in plastic bags We'll keep them in a special place We'll hold them near our hearts Daddy was a Man Of Many Hats
PS, all constructive comments are appreciated.

Hi Fran
I loved reading them, both beautifully written some very nice sentiments in them. Second one I think sounds better as it opens up the story a little more. One suggestion of something I'd change is the second version, second line, second verse. Replace "whenever" with "wherever" it would relate better I feel.
Best Roger

Best Roger Hi Roger, thank you for the comments. I will consider the change. I am honored that you read both versions. I agree about the second version being the best. Thanks again.. PS, the lines about the plastic bag with my dad's Sunday Fedora Hat, with his "Hair and English leather" smell still on it is true. Speak soon, Fran Williams

Hey Fran and Gary, Like this story! Tweaks below, keep or sweep Daddy was a man of many hats For whatever the occasion might call They've become our treasured memories Hanging all over the hall Daddy, was a man of many hats The right one for whenever he went out Each one of us can tell you What each one of them is all about

I think most can empathise with this Fran. Sometimes you have to get the thoughts out.
Good idea with the hats.

Good insights folks! Subtle changes can make a strong difference in how a Song works on the mass audience. Thanx!
There will always be another song to be written. Someone will write it. Why not you? www.garyeandrews.com
