Hi Everyone,

The day before my birthday, after being on the site for three months, my song chalked up a little over 10,000 plays on Drooble. Never before in my life have I had so many people listen to my song in such a short time. It was a great birthday present ;D

You can check it out here...

https://drooble.com (Edit. Note: A site that offers to take your app. 800 pound/$1600 payment to play your song on their "radio" station: Edit. Note).

Sounds interesting!........but I always am a little skeptical of things that sound too good to be true. Sad that we live in an internet world where we have to ponder, "is this bait?" Please, smajor, I'm not implying that this is not legit, but most of us have experienced hackers/scammers/adware/ with our personal email and in most social media forums/venues, so it's normal to be dubious and skeptical. Let us know Everett if you get through, since you've tried, we'll let you be the sacrificial lamb!

Humm,
Some time ago my Publisher sent songs to European Radio Disc Jockeys. Some of my songs got Radio Air Play. Big Deal. No money for it.

10K listens won't buy you a nice meal on any digital music site. May not buy you anything as it likely won't even register, it won't on Spotify. 100K maybe a blip.

I posted a link to a successful artist who shared their plays and they were in the millions and it produced chump change by comparison.

It could buy you a reasonably nice meal, so long as you didn't order some fancy wine. 10,000 plays on Spotify would get you about $43.70. This means Spotify could buy me a meal about every 30 years or so smile

Here's where I got that figure.

I cant make out this site Drooble at alI, I am a member because my son

recommended them, but I would think 10.000 hits would not be correct

If you have had that type of listening in the past from similar sites OKAY but

this sounds like a form of scam to get you paying for some other service they

are trying to sell

There was a couple of Russians who set up a similar site , giving out loads

of Bullshit about hits and the like . they got taken down after a struggle only

to resurface somewhere else

I would like a link to any other site you have songs on, because the DROOBLE one

does not seem to exist all I got was a japanese site I could not read

------------------------------------------------------------------------

I looked at the DROOBLE SONG CHART for members and The top Five songs ?
listed in excess of Five Thousand Hits , I cant belive that because the songs were mainly
copies both in melody and styles of Former Hits going back over thirty odd years

THIS IS AN ADD THEY ARE Publishing at this time

The Market Network for Musicians Has Come Up with a Unique Opportunity to Hear New Music and Get Paid!

LEWES, DE / ACCESSWIRE / March 14, 2018 / Drooble, the market network for musicians, has a tempting job offer an artist can hardly refuse! The platform is giving one lucky self-starter the opportunity to hear new original music every day for a month, share their opinion and feedback, and get paid a 1000 USD salary for their services.

Re the above
Notice the line stating One Lucky Member could get a thousand dollars per month ????

One of the most important principles of songwriting is to remember that a good song is a partnership of many different components, all working together to produce a satisfying musical experience.

In that respect, song components are either enhancing or compromising their combined effects.

Thanks for the confirmation. I think you only get that money once you hit a threshold. So that suggests $4,370 for a million plays. 43K for 10 million. Frankly, that is PATHETIC since the average artist on there hasn't had a single song hit 1K plays, the minimum number to even register.

Thanks for the update Cheyenne. If they are asking for a penny from you, you're being scammed. It is bad enough you can't but a meal at a real restaurant for 10K plays on a "legit" site like Spotify (emphasis on the " "'s) but paying to be on a fourth rate site? Yikes. What a scam.

Brian, I totally agree that streaming income for most folks is paltry, although I'm not sure about there being any specific threshold from the streaming companies themselves. My distributor does have a $10 threshold before they make a payment, but that seems reasonable enough.
I suppose the logic the streaming companies would use to justify the meager payments per stream would be that ten thousand streams would equivalent to one play on a radio stations in terms of ears reached.
Totally agree about the average user not hitting 1K plays on a song. Partly that's because the average is brought down by the fact that most of them are like me - just not that good, really - and partly because it's just so crowded. With all that music competing for attention, even the really good stuff can get lost in the crowd. It's similar to what happened with the "democratization" of the book publishing world when suddenly anybody could churn out any old crap, format it for Kindle and call it a book.

Hi Everyone, @Everett Adams, @E Swartz, @Fdemetrio, @Ray E. Strode, @Neil Cotton, @Brian Austin Whitney, @Gavin Sinclair, @Cheyenne,

Wow! Wasn't expecting this outburst of cynical skepticism.

I thought it was clear that all I was talking about were plays... people listening... no money involved. Guess not.

Neil Cotton... yeah, I haven't updated my profile for awhile. All links should be operative now.

Everett Adams and Cheyenne... no idea why the link doesn't work for you. I don't have any problems. I'll try again... https://drooble.com/i/cb1ayc

Or you could try this one... https://drooble.com/

But I have to say... I'm remembering now why I quit spending much time on this forum.

Sorry Smajor, Sorry if u felt you got knocked around. Im skeptical by nature, in fact i have a song with that title. I think we may have assumed you were referring to streaming sites, like spotify ish.... where 10 listens is a drop in a bucket. But it seems you were just referring to a site that has active listeners, a site basicly like this one, except more listeners.

10k plays is a nice feat, any way of knowing if they are 10k unique plays?

Dont take it so personally, nobody REALLY is worried about it either way, its mostly conversation fodder. Hang out have a laugh or two....

Thanks Fdemetrio... I appreciate your response.

I too am pretty skeptical. So I can understand. But it's a pretty big downer to have one's accomplishment met with such negativity. I was trying to share a site that I am excited about.

I accept that it might not be for everyone, but how can you decide if you don't even know about its existence?

I can categorically state that I haven't spent one thin dime for anything on Drooble. In fact I've made a few cents.

I'm not quite sure what the current membership of Drooble is... the last figure I saw was around 60,000... but there've been a lot of new people coming in. So 10,000 listens is isn't at all inconceivable.

The main thing for me is that I'm finding new people to work with.

Stan

Hi Stan.

Congratulations on all the plays you've been getting. smile

That site looks interesting for sure, and has good reviews.

I've sent a query asking whether at some point there'll be an opportunity for non-singing/non-playing lyricists to join. Seems to me that lyricists would welcome the opportunity to meet up with top-quality musicians/vocalists who are actively gigging and more. Many serious lyricists already have plenty of songs/collaborations under their belt that they could provide as examples in their profiles.

UPDATE: Oh, wait! I've just seen that you're a lyricist seeking music writers! smile
Did you actually find any on the site? In what category did you place yourself in your profile?

Wow! Wasn't expecting this outburst of cynical skepticism.
But I have to say... I'm remembering now why I quit spending much time on this forum.

If you derive enjoyment from the site, that's a good thing. As for the skepticism, consider that many people here, including me had never seen your avatar. So, from seemingly out of nowhere you bust onto this site with great claims regarding Drooble. It fit the profile of spam and robo-callers for me. I assumed that's what you were.

My suggestion...personalize your approach more at the outset. The "back hand" at the end of the post wasn't endearing either.

How would that look to you?

Hi DonnaMarilyn,

I don't recall exactly under what label I registered... something generic like "songwriter" I think. But then on my profile I made it clear I'm a word guy only.

And I also make that clear in the sample songs and lyrics I put up.

I've only been active on the site for four months now... pretty much every day... and things are only now beginning to move, but I've always found finding compatible music writers to be a long drawn out process so this doesn't seem unusual to me. I am finding people I'd like to work with if things fall into place and that's the main thing.

As much as anything I just enjoy the day to day interaction with people all over the world who are as driven to create as I am. And, as I mentioned in my initial post, there are a lot of eager ears willing to listen and respond to my songs. I haven't found that easy to find. Soundcloud used to be good, but Drooble beats Soundcloud all to Hell.

Stan

Hi @Martin Lide,

I don't need your approbation. I'm doing fine.

I think ya'll need to put some serious thought into the culture you're creating here. I was active here some time ago, but have since found more congenial sites.

The fact that your response to me offering you an opportunity is to lecture me about my incivility is, to my mind, a dead giveaway that something's out of whack.

It wasn't a lecture about your incivility. That is where your personal filters took it. It was a statement about a shared perception with a summary question....

"How would that look to you?"

I have pretty good guess as to how you would have reacted to someone else doing the same thing.

And the culture here is pretty standard for internet forums. Better than most.

Well, for what it's worth,
my former Publisher called recently and asked if he could put my songs, now on the Web Site, listed under NEW WEB SITE on the industry board on another Site, I said OK.Not sure which, Sound Cloud or Reverbnation or what ever. Well he called yesterday and said one of my songs, MUD IN YOUR EYE, had already received over 100 plays and was the number one song or something to that effect. I didn't get it all but another of my songs, I'LL TAKE IT FROM HERE was Tapped to go on somebody else's site. Well if nothing else it is some publicity for the songs. Maybe I'll get rich yet!

Stanfield,

Not sure what your problem is with our site. You haven't been around much since 2014/2015 and back then you seemed to have no problems according to your interactions. All was positive both ways and the only thing remotely conflict inclusive was when you posted a song you weren't interested in changing and people had suggested changes. But even that seemed nothing out of the ordinary. So you were treated well, you treated others well, yet you slam us here for what reason? Because the numbers don't add up on your post here?

Let me keep it simple. I take you comments at face value. You got a quick 10K listens from a possible listener base of 60,000 people (all your numbers). That means 1 in 6 listened to your music. You make no mention of any promotion you did to get them since it was all a pleasant surprise, so this was just a random result if we take you at your word, which I am doing.

The problem is that 16% of an entire user base are not going to randomly listen to ANY song in a short period if they don't know you, weren't directed to specifically listen to your song or any other outside influence. It just isn't mathematically plausible. That doesn't mean you're not telling the truth, but something is off. Perhaps they inflate the listens to build participation/loyalty? If not that, then I ask you, how do you explain it? Think about the math. it doesn't add up. How many listens does the "average" song get on there? Have all your other songs done similarly well? Remember, people randomly picking a song don't know if it will suck or not until AFTER they click the play button. So for busy people to latch on to one of your random songs without knowing you (I don't think you know the 60K members right?) seems amiss.

Questioning claims that don't ring true is a service to our collective membership. You must admit it seems too good to be true? I think it seems too good to even be possible.

But perhaps you can further explain it? The bottom line is you have NOT been treated poorly here. The prior posts on your account PROVE IT. Why you are coping an attitude now is the question? Because people questioned the numbers and site? Really? We've been here for 35 years, long before the internet, long before email existed. We watch out for our folks and try to get to the truth of wild claims. To do otherwise would be the problem.

Brian

Hi @Brian Austin Whitney,

I know what I've done. And the proof is there if you want to look at it.

From my perspective all you seem to want to do is prove that I'm wrong without looking at the evidence on the site I tried to share with you. That's okay. As far as I'm concerned it's your loss, not mine.

Id say if u can get 10k listeners, it IS for everyone, at least should be. I didnt see you as coming back to stick it to people, you probably were excited by the response.

Remember that's a different kind of site. That's more like soundclick or soundcloud, and maybe the interest is up because its newer.

We get alot of people popping out of nowhere to praise some site, artist, business, pharmacy (hehe), so maybe that was the reason for the guarded responses.

But I may give it a try myself, any tips as to how u did it?

Hi @Fdemetrio,

Yeah. I was thinking I was doing a good thing and sharing info that people here could use. It's not like I'm the only one getting numbers like this. There are a lot of folks on Drooble who really enjoy hearing new music. And sharing their own.

I'm past my initial angst. It was a shock to visit and discover the response to my original post. I felt hurt and overreacted. That water's under the bridge now.

I didn't do anything special. The Drooble site itself has a bit of a learning curve, but nothing major. Beyond that all I did was upload my songs and include them on Drooble Radio. Nothing invested except, perhaps, time hanging out, but I doubt if that had much effect on plays.

I recommend giving it a try. Won't cost you a thing except some time. I promise. Let me know if you have any questions or need help navigating Drooble.

Stan

I used to go on song ramp, but found mostly it was a "you listen to me, ill listen to you" kind of thing, That gets tiring, and fruitless over time. But better than nothing I suppose.

An update:

This is a simple case of spam. smajor posted an affiliate link which he gets some benefit from if people use it. Since we strictly do not allow that sort of thing, I removed the affiliate part of the link and left it a simple link to the site. So that was blatantly dishonest on his part.

I also checked out his account. He has a couple songs with 1.2K listens and his entire collection combined has 13K according to his stats. That's fine and all but, the number of likes etc. don't indicate much real interest in his work, so there's nothing to suggest 13K+ listens ever took place other than the play stats. The site (according to their own posted numbers) gets just a bit less than 500 listens per song (which isn't bad actually) but that is because the number of songs on the site is LESS than the number of Members. It suggests that those 67K+ listed artists on average post less than 1 song per account. That is a BIG RED FLAG. It suggests what I suspected, the numbers are misleading at best and at worst bogus. At best, they force you to register an account to even look around so if it is registrations that are counted as Artists for me, that is misleading and if they haven't even posted a single song on average, then how do they know all registrants are "artists" and how are they even using the site without a song posted?

So it is certainly a venus fly trap for your info, email, name and other potentially sensitive info including PASSWORDS, which is a lucrative business for many venus fly trap sites. At JPF, I can't view your password. The software does not allow it. (anyone who doubts it can contact the manufacturer and verify). But that software is not "off the shelf" meaning they can see your password. Since most people use the same password everywhere (a bad idea, but it is a fact that most people have a password and a few variations at best). So that is risky by itself. And any site that FORCES you to register before you even see what is going on is a problem. That is NOT an honest business practice in my opinion.

So, we have a guy come on here for the first time in appx 4 years. When he was last here, he was treated very well. (The PROOF is right in the archives). He complains about our site, while posting a spam link to a site that is a venus fly trap (i.e. it forces people to register to see inside the site). Even with his direct link, you can't play the music on his page. Not very welcoming to people looking for music right? It forces a potential LISTENER to REGISTER as well!!!! Why would they? So at best, you are posting for other artists. And I strongly suspect the posted claim of nearly 500 listens per song is questionable at best as well because why would other artists on the site listen, on average, to every song on the site 500 times?

OR.. and here's where it gets laughable, are they counting the LISTENERS to their "radio station" where sorry victims PAY THEM.. WAIT FOR IT... 800 Pounds or roughly $1600 dollars!!!!! For a play on their "radio" station.

Folks, this is (in my opinion) a 100% scam. Please do not waste your time or money OR give them your registration info let alone your songs. And smajor.. at best you are a SHILL for a dishonest scam OR a really really clueless person harming other musicians with your nonsense.

Man.. I knew this was a bunch of BS, but it is soooo much worse than I thought it was.

They actually use the fact they run ads in major legit magazines and music players like Spotify and imply it gives them an ounce of credibility. That's a lot of sad naive songwriters paying these leeches $1600 dollars for completely useless "airplay" on the "drooble" radio station. Uh.. what major market is that in? hah...

Brian

PS: I haven't banned smajor, I will be happy to give him a chance to further defend this bullsh*t. Just know that it is a FACT that he's a shill.

Just in case someone hasn't swallowed Brian's bullshit. I'm over 14,000 plays now. Real plays. No malfeasance involved. And I'm making connections. I have to laugh when Brian says he hasn't banned me. He should. I'm offering you escape from this dingy dungeon.
