I listened. Very cool. You have a good radio presence and a great Roger Daltrey story. When you first mentioned being in the Detours I didnt know what to think, like maybe this guy is off his rocker...but that is pretty amazing. You never know who might be big some day. Hard work, luck, and of course talent. You said you were from Acton, one of my favorite Pete Townshend songs is stardom in acton... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZFrRPym21w

Thanks Fdemetrio. That clip brought back a few memories. Acton Lane was at the bottom of the road we used to rehearse at. The No. 260 bus was the bus on my route home when our family moved a couple of miles to east from west of the town. My barber too thought I was a nut when I told him. There is an edited version of that show (with all the "ME" bits) here. https://soundcloud.com/vic-arnold/bbskone-show-editVic

Vic:
Thanks for sharing your good news with us. I'm happy for you... and always proud of you. Let's hope it leads to something special for you. JPF is such a great place/incubator and knowing that hope exists in today's music world is good news indeed.
All the best all the time.... ----Dave

Hey, Vic,
I had a chance to listen to this while I was on the road for business last week. Very cool listen and really enjoyed hearing you. It must have been very fun to do, and you sounded great. Well done!
All my best,
Deej

Hi Deej. It was fun but a little uncomfortable as I was huddled round one microphone with my mandolin player. No DI either. He wanted an "acoustic" sound.

I really enjoyed listening to this, Vic (the edited Vic-only version). Feel like I got to know you, having only encountered you here. That's a pretty impressive musical CV and lots of great stories. Not to mention the music! Thanks for sharing this.
Good to hear that collaboration you did with Travis too.
By the way, this is a classic line: "I don't like to play songs that people want me to play." LOL.

Vic,
The fact that it was uncomfortable and you were crowded around a single mic makes it all that more impressive. You sounded great to my ears!
Deej

Hey Vic, What Deej said.. I played out every day for a year, a few years back, and never sounded as poised as y'all. I agree with your mando player. To me, DI sucks the life out of the sound. Even just one mic is better, imo. There was a whole series of recordings made with one mic awhile back ("Onemic series" on youtube--still active btw and amazing), all about the placement..and the breath-mints Enjoyed it very much, Vic.. Thanks Gavin. Glad you enjoyed my rambling on and my "motto". Sometimes I announce before I start a set, "I don't do 'Delilah' or 'Country Roads'".

Thanks Mike. Good to see you on here again.
I always felt my guitar, being a cutaway sounds better amplified. The other draw back was that I couldn't hear the mandolin at times so had to be content with listening to me. Took me back a bit to the time a band I was in did a couple of songs on Irish Television, back in the '60's.
We had been doing a sound check for about 10 minutes when a voice came from the control room saying that he couldn't hear our instruments. I checked around and asked "Shouldn't you have mikes in front of the amps"? A few seconds later there was a scurry of activity and two guys came running down with the appropriate gear. I kid you not.

Great interview, Vic. I loved the "you" bits and all your stories about "back in the day". What I loved the most was that you're still here, doing what you love. Rock on.

Glad you enjoyed it Ricki. It is a worry as you get older that you talk about your past too much, but what else is there to talk about? The next song I suppose.
