"You can go your own way" was playing in the background to an ad on tv. That was my inspiration for this, not that it turned out anything like it but still. I think I wrote a line a day or so it seemed. Seems inspitrations come from a multitude of sources. When i'm trying to write and faced with a blank page as the clock ticks away i find playing music as in your case helps out sometimes. I'm off to listen to a couple of Mark Knopfler folk songs later, hope that helps me. I enjoyed your new one Vic best of luck with promoting it John

Thanks Travis. I do a few Knopfler songs myself at open mike nights. "Haul Away", "All The Road Running" and "I'm done with Bonaparte". He's pretty good at that style.

Not only did I enjoy the song,Vic... your songs are always pretty darn special... but the "banter" between you and "Travis"... especially the part about Knopfler... provide hints of his influence in this one. When Mark and Chet Atkins appeared in a Television Special several years ago, I had never heard of Mr. Knopfler. Was I ever in for a wonderful surprise.
Really nice work, my friend. I enjoyed every line of it, lyrically as well as the melody.
Thanks for all your good work. ----Dave

Really nice sounding track! I think the backing vocals could be tighter. I love the guitars! Nice work! =Bob=

Vic,
Really nice tune you have here—very alternative 80’s feel for me, which I’m really digging. Your usual outstanding production as well. Always admire how you get your percussion to pop so well. Good luck with this one! It’s deserving of notice.
All the best,
Deej

Hi Deej. Thanks. Yes, I think of it as soft rock. Tom petty etc.
Re the drums, it took a bit of trial and error. The secret appears to be to do with separating bass and drums in the frequency spectrum. I find that snare drums like it at around 120ish, bass drum lower. Now you have to take that out of the bass and fiddle around for hours 'til it sounds right.

Hey Vic,
I like this one a lot! Just feels smooth........and a melody that sticks with you. V2, last line, I feel you could improve the prosody there. Maybe pause after "you......." then finish line faster rather than spreading everything out? Not real sure without playing and singing it a few times.
Enjoyed this'n though, great work!

Hey Vic, yeah I think they are using Go Your Own Way for lung inhaler commercials lol
I like the chorus. I dont like how to guitar solos just suddenly cut out before the new sections start. Sometimes bleeding into the section makes it seem more real, and just cooler.
But was an enjoyable listen

Thanks Fdemetrio, I wasn't happy about that myself. I've been tinkering with it this afternoon. Trouble is there arn't many tails in the loops. I may have to play them in. Almost there.

Nice listen. I liked the guitar leads in between the verses. The entire song had a really good vibe. My only nit is the lyrics in the bridge. I dunno: written in the stars, Jupiter and Mars. The entire bridges lyrics seemed out of place.

Hi Iggy. Just talking about fate. Apparently it's highly unlikely if not impossible for Jupiter to meet Mars unless of course it's written somewhere in physics.
