John and I have been working on this song a little while. Not finished yet...Comments are welcome https://soundcloud.com/domenic-mercurio/full-callupon-himmixnov22-output-master-untitled1Call His Name (The Hand That Guides ) Lonely, weary, with a voice unanswered in the depths of despair no strength to go on. I called upon my saviour please show me the light and soon my burden disappeared like the night Call, upon him then he will console you Don't turn the other way for he wont forsake you He feels the pain when a loved one is taken helps heal the wound of your empty heart when you praise the lord and take your part call upon the hand that will guide you Jesus will always with you abide helps heal the wound of your empty heart when you praise the lord and take your part Call his name call his name John Vaughan (C)

Mimmo,
Loved your vocals here especially--your emotion and passion come through your voice. Nice building melody as well. I listened a 2nd time and decided if your put Elvis Presley's voice in a bottle and shook it up with Willie Nelson's.........add a "pinch" of Italian accent, and the result would be Mimmo!
One thought, I wasn't ready for the song to end quite so soon, I thought with this structure, you could end with a little longer instrumental outro as a more climactic ending before resolving on the last musical chord.
Well done guys!

Ed Thanks for your thoughts on this song and your comments. I tried this song with a few different sounds, after adding the back up vocals I liked the sound I was getting and decided to go on with this style. I do like what I have this far. Thank you for your Elvis reference. I grew up listening to his music and I did a lot of his songs for quite some time when I sang at weddings locally. This kind of sound comes naturally for me and I am comfortable with it.
Because of the style of the song I thought I’d keep it short and simple, But I guess I can always stretch it with a bit of instrumental to the ending.
Regards Mimmo
Here is a comment from a friend:
Cal DiFalco Mimmo:
You shred a gospel song before, but I don’t think it was this one.I really like this one. Nice feel and arrangement. I think it is very well done. Remind me a little of Elvis’s gospel album and the arrangements he used there.
Very nice.

Hi Mimmo and John:
You have this one "headed in the right direction" an assume the abrupt ending was to emphasize your opening remark as you posted the song. Two seasoned professionals like you and John don't need my advice... you just need time to whittle here and there, add a touch where needed or do what is necessary to take this to the level it can reach.
Great work so far. Cannot wait to hear the final rendition. Thanks so much for sharing... and, as always... best of luck.
----Dave

I liked the arrangement in this worship/praise song. The vocals were strong, too.
I thought the ending of the first verse felt a bit awkward: "I called upon my saviour please show me the light and soon my burden disappeared like the night" Especially that last line. It just needs a bit of wordsmithing to make it flow better.
The ending was a bit abrupt but it's a workin progress so you probably know this.
I especially liked how you wove the guitar into the arrangment/mix.
Very cool!
Peace, TC

Mimmo,
Well, gospel ain’t quite my thing, but I enjoyed listening to this a lot. Love the “early” Elvis sound you got going on here. Some terrific backing vocal as well. Really nice vocal here. But, wow, that ending is way to abrupt, so needs to be massaged . . . an easy fix, but one you have to make. Well done, gents! Lot to like here.
Kind regards,
Deej

Deej Thanks for listening Deej...Gospel is something I do every now and then, I did like the lyrics on this one. I have edited the ending to the song since the mix that is up, still working on a few new sounds I will post a new mix soon.
