My newest blues rendition posted at SongRamp a few weeks ago. I hope the link works. Thanks for listening. ----Dave https://www.songramp.com/musicsharing/listen/music_12476/I went back to the site where this is posted and looked at the "embed" features where they list the same link to the song with the notation it is a secure website (https instead of http) so let's see if this works now??? Thanks for your patience with a non-techie!

Cool one, Dave. Nice guitar tone too. The link takes you to the site but not directly to the song.

Thanks for the feedback, Vic:
I'll find out what I'm doing wrong but I copied it exactly as it was identified by the SongRamp website. Strange. I appreciate that you took the trouble to dig deeper.
Later, ----Dave

Thanks, Guys:
Sorry the dang link won't take you straight to the song. Calvin, that's me and my Yamaha Arranger Keyboard. I'm still doing my best to master some of the vocal harmony and effects features but it is packed with capabilities I'll probably never learn to use.
Have a great weekend. ----Dave

Hey Dave,
Great to see you posting a blues number. I was really digging this and getting into the groove. Guitar tone is great sounding--did you do the music from your keyboard? I would like to see you beef up the drum track a bit, cause this song really kicks some butt. I like blues songs to sound like they are recorded at a live performance. The delay on your vox gives that impression to me, I think that is why I'd like to hear a strong drum track cracking with some serious reverb--food for thought!
Really enjoyed this'n!

Thanks, Eddie:
I just finished correcting the link originally posted. Now it works.
So glad you took the time to listen... and for your idea. I will do some "experimenting and exploring" later this week. My songs are actually recorded "live" directly into a digital recorder and then ported into an editor on my off-line PC for minor volume edits, etc. This forces me to record the darn thing usually more than just one take... but I get lots of practice that way. 90% of the time... I have to start over because of my miserable vocal ability.
For the record, I had Laura Kelsey attempt to do a demo for me on this one... and she knocked it out of the park vocally... but my backing track I sent her was not what it needed to be to support her fabulous voice. My objective was to check how this song sounded when sung by a female singer... and golly, is she good. Mission accomplished.
I spend more time setting up the eight tracks available on the Keyboard (different instruments and individual volume settings, etc.) than I do recording... but it gets easier after having recorded so many songs. Now if only my vocal capabilities were a bit better. That is why I hire Zaneski to do a demo for me from time to time. He is such a genius and listens to my song, then creates his own backing tracks.
All the best, ----Dave

Dave,
I’ll echo the kudos on the great guitar work—the lead, the bass—really slick sound, very engaging. And that piano at the end—sweet! The lyrics don’t totally grab me personally, but that's always a subjective thing and it’s sometimes tough to know for sure on a first listen and without reading them. Regardless, enjoyed the listen, Dave—thanks for sharing!
All the best,
Deej

Hi Deej:
The lyric is posted at the SongRamp but it requires a mouse-click when you find the button on that page. (I know, new sites are sometimes difficult to navigate.)
Thanks for taking time to listen and comment. All thoughts and ideas (positive and negative) are appreciated... that's how old geezers like me learn new tricks! LOL!

Hi Dave I listen to songs on here in two ways. It's either a quick listen then fast track to the end. Then there's songs such as these which have my ears glued to the speakers. Loved the guitar opening forgive this but the song had me thinking of another valued poster Mackie. Excellent! Best of luck with it it's a winner. John

Good to hear one from you, Dave. I also got a Mackie feel from this. Nice sound. Lyrically, I think you can get away with a lot more in blues than maybe country but it's all good. The title is I'm Not Excited, you end the song with I'm Excited...I'd make the name of the song Excited so you get it right either way. Just a thought.

Enjoyed it Dave.
But the baseline is prominent and sounds an awful lot like "Black Velvet?"

Hi Ricki and Martin:
Interesting "takes" on "I'm Not Excited." Ricki, I considered just using "Excited" as a title but the song was not first done as a blues number... but I like the blues version much better.
Martin, I'm going to have to dig up a copy of Black Velvet and compare. I always like that song but did not consciously have that in-mind when writing the lyric or the melody.
Thanks to both of you for taking time to listen and comment. I promise not to do it very often... but... as you know, Zaneski is busier than a one-armed paper-hanger these days.
All the best, ----Dave

Hi Travis:
Strange how you and Ricki got a "Mackie" vibe out of this... but I consider that a very nice compliment. Thanks for gluing your ears to your speakers. I hope you extracted them without too much pain... LOL!
Much appreciated, ----Dave

Thanks, TC and RDMan:
You guys are the best. I've been out of town and must do some "catching up" on listening to songs posted here by others. Can you imagine how difficult feedback would be if we had no internet and no JPF? Wow, we live in opportunistic times, don't we!
Best, ----Dave

Great song Dave. I can hear a much bigger production with it for sure.
Sounds like you are working that direction...

Hi Dave great intro, missing for me were Guitar Chords when you were singing
the melody , the melody alone lends itself to some great Colored Chords
Some of the rhymes are cliche , but a great effort , think about some snappy chords
All I hear ('apart from drums ) are repeated notes , when a Bass Riff against Guitar
chords would make a hell of a difference -- Great Vocals Dave got the making
of a Standard with the right backing

One of the most important principles of songwriting is to remember that a good song is a partnership of many different components, all working together to produce a satisfying musical experience.
In that respect, song components are either enhancing or compromising their combined effects.

Thanks for listening, Ricky:
Wish I had better vocal qualities but it is what it is... old age... and I muddle along as best I can. I would have hired Zaneski for a demo of this but his schedule is backed up out his front door and around the block with others, wanting their song to sound terrific. LOL!
Cheyenne:
I am so pleased with your thoughts on "Excited." Most of my rhymes are "cliche" because I am in a bit of a hurry at this late stage of my well-lived life... LOL! When time permits, I'll do my best to turn this thing into an old standard. My wife accuses me of being an "old standard" and I suspect she is right. I really do appreciate you taking time to share some great ideas.
All my best... and may Thanksgiving be remarkable for both of you. ----Dave
