I decided to live dangerously by purchasing a Mega Million lottery ticket (at 900 million now). Odds are 302 million to 1, so little chance of winning. But what if, God forbid, I'd win? Do I drastically change people's lives - and maybe end up regretting it, if something bad happens to them because of it? My sons are doing well. Living happy lives. Would my generosity change that? Of course, I’d donate to worthy causes like St Jude, Salvation Army, my church, homeless people, etc., etc., etc. Can’t do any harm there – right? And where would I keep that much money? I’m sure my local bank can’t handle large sums like that. Maybe spread it out in a thousand different banks. I’d have to send a lawyer friend to claim it. I definitely wouldn’t want everyone to know. I’d have to stand guard protecting my loved ones all the time. I could hire security. But could I really trust them? Jezz, now I’m really sorry I purchased it. It would ruin my life and maybe others. Maybe I’ll just throw it out without looking at the number. But then if I heard someone from Pennsylvania won, and 6 months later didn’t claim the prize, I would need to see a psychologist. I guess there’s no way out of this now. So, the phrase “be careful what you ask for, you may get it” applies here. What a stupid thing I did… Then again, I can always hope I don’t match any numbers. Then I’d be a happy loser. Traumatized, John

Pack that silly ticket up and mail it my way... I'm so invisible I won't need a security guard. Believe me, I would create inflation here in West Mayberry faster than a New York minute.
One things for sure... I won't be buying any bitcoins with it. LOL!
Happy loser, indeed! John, you amaze me. Maybe I'd better place a call to Wy and have him bring those guys in White Suits in their White Van up to Pennsylvania.
Thanks for the laugh.
----Dave

I wouldn't want to place the curse on you Dave. Maybe I'll just send the ticket to Wy. No one will bother him deep in the Bayou. John

With that kind of money, you could probably solve every problem there is, except death and taxes.
I have heard of lottery winnings destroying families, in fact, I knew a guy whose son I went to grammar school with. He won TWICE. Not the mega but several MIL. He divorced his wife for a young girl, so there's that.
It depends what kind of person you are to start with. If you are grounded and are the real deal, the money can only enhance your life

An array of such choices most would never face. It would be scary. At least for me. If I were 21, I'd say bring it on! John

I'd want to travel number one, after helping all family, friends, and help a few other acquaintances that could use some good fortune. First off after taxes on 1 billlion would leave you $600,000. Half of that given away carefully perhaps with some trust funds for those under 40--as they still need to learn success on their own. So what to do with the left over now $300,000, like I said travel, have a couple unique modest homes in different environments for change of pace...........fun to dream, man I'd really have a killer studio and guitar/mic collection..........not to mention more time to play in the studio!
I bought 3 tickets today.

I think you have your figures wrong, unless your taxes are really high. A billion is a thousand million, if half went to the government, you should have $500, 000,000. left, five hundred million. Some small countries don't have that much. LOL

I would turn JPF into what I always envisioned and I think we could completely change the music industry forever and beyond that, additional arts along with it. We'd wrestle away the control over intellectual properties and put it back into the hands of the creators and away from the multinational corporations. We'd create a career ladder as well as online platforms backed up by local brick and mortar facilities across the world. I am not sure I have the health or lifespan to pull it all off, but I bet I could get the ball rolling and outline my vision and with the right hiring and staff in place in a decade we could change the world for creators forever.
But our 20 dollars in tickets only won 10 dollars so now that the pot will grow to 1.6 billion dollars or more, we'll have half as many chances to win. But who knows? I definitely have the vision on how to productively spend it in a meaningful way that will not only change the lives of creators, but also all the consumers whose lives would be further enriched in ways they can't today.

Aw, Well, One thing I would do for sure is give everybody on JPF a dollar! And you wouldn't have to worry about taxes. I would pay them. Now don't you all feel better.

The last thing id want is creating more worries. Travel the world, live a stress free life, help struggling loved ones, tip well, give to charity.
Wouldn't be enough to buy a sports team, that would be the ultimate.
Music would be tough, because people dont want music from rich people who didnt get there on their own. They want people they can identify with.
"ahh he only has an album out because hes got the money to do it"
Lots of golf, lots of women....wooh hooo!
