Maybe Tonight I’ll Die (Neil Cotton)
Yes It sounds too crazy to be ever seen It happens every night in my wildest dream All I get for Christmas is a cowgirl by my tree One who takes me places where I’ve never been
She pulls me up behind her silver western saddle We ride off together as my fantasy unravels A cowgirl with gold hair blowing back in my face Saying come with me to my loving place
Maybe tonight I’ll die We’ll ride beyond the sky I believe there's a Heaven Where love will last forever Maybe tonight I’ll die
Together we’ll gallop past my old girl friend The one who said to me her love for me was dead We’ll ride our silver stallion across the universe The only time we’ll stop is to write another verse
Maybe tonight I’ll die We’ll ride beyond the sky I believe there's a Heaven Where love will last forever Maybe tonight I’ll die
If my time has come to leave Make it happen while I dream
Maybe tonight I’ll die We’ll ride beyond the sky I believe there's a Heaven Where love will last forever Maybe tonight I’ll die

It seemed like the verses and chorus were two different songs. I don't see the reason to bring in the old girlfriend and muddy the waters. I found the "die" line too disturbing. (maybe your intention)
I looked at it this way:
Maybe tonight I’ll ride Well beyond the sky I believe there's a Heaven Where love lasts forever Where love will never Die
I didn't see the need for the Christmas reference either. (another tangent taking away from the focus)
Maybe a little more work Neil?
Best -Mike
