It falls to many of us to sort out the affairs of somebody close after they passed away. Never easy but often brings good memories and surprises. Love that "feeling" you impart on the ears of the listeners, Vic:
As always, that Johnny Cash sounding vocal is so-o-o-o darn good. The story line is fantastic and yes, even though this one is probably imaginary, it reminds all of us of coming obligations... or those performed in our past. (It worries me to think of what my kids will think... as they rummage through my junk... and only hope they don't throw away my life's work bound up in twenty tattered work-books of songs... not to mention all those CDs... LOL!)
Can you tell how much I enjoyed the song? Great work, my friend. I may be American but I have a Welsh Heart, like you. Long live Urien Rheged!

It's a moving story, Vic. I enjoyed it. I can relate to the feelings, and I'm pretty sure most people can.

Love this Vic. Great storytelling, but for me it is always your vocal that pulls you in.
Beautiful write and performance,

Hi Dave. Good to see you back here.
Yes the story is part imaginary but I did have an uncle who died in a POW camp and I have some of my grandmother's old letters from another when he was overseas in WW2. I was too young to really know them but I can imagine things.
Not sure what my sons will think, going over my old stuff. Probably think I was a little weird.
Thanks for listening and the comment.

Rich vocals, Vic! "Honey, I won't be gone long" emphasized with the harmony and echo really stood out - I felt like it added a lonely reverberation for the woman left behind and a "famous last words" moment. Found the chorus really catchy too!

Hi Laura. Glad you liked it. The "echo" was just cut and paste, and graded volume trim.

Vic,
The guitar out of the gate is magnetic—pulls the listener right in . . . and then the warm vocal kicks in—very nice. A nice story with heart behind it. Enjoyed it!
All the best,
Deej

I really enjoyed this song and especially the music arrangement. Cool lyrics that paint a wonderful picture. Nice work, one of your best IMO.

Nice bittersweet story, Vic, well told and played. Just curious...if these are granddad's letters to gramma that she saved, why would he be telling her about a romance, a weekend and a honeymoon? Wasn't she there? Ricki

Hi Rickie. Thank you. Haha! That would be telling. In fact though, he wasn't telling her. It was the letters that "told of a story" etc.
