I did this a few months ago with my vocal but Laura suggested a duet.
Although the key isn't ideal for me, I am glad I took her advice.

Vic,
Real pretty song. And the duet worked well for it. Good job.

Laura,
Impressive. I'm not a guy who gets vocals, but you sounded on pitch, lots of character, melodic, and it seems to me, that you make it sound much easier than it actually is to execute that vocal line. Much respect.

Am writing a song on a slow roll right now. It's part of a story that I'm writing and I want to sing it but I can't reach where I would like the vocal melody to go. Maybe with your help. Will be in touch.

Sweet tune folks.

Martin

Vic and Laura,

I, like Gavin, love duets—-and there’s a lot to like here; some cool harmonies—and your voices complement each other well. For my amateur ears, there’s maybe a bit too much reverb on the vocals, and the harmonies might be a bit tighter in a few places—but that doesn’t take away from the overall impact—it’s a compelling tune. I agree, Vic, it sounds like you are out of your ideal comfort zone vocally, but it’s still a nice contrast (and a great vocal). Laura—nice powerful ending on the vocals. Cool listen.

Best regards,

Deej

Thank you Deej.
I have made a few alterations.
The reverb is actually delay and I wanted that slight echo on the end of the line.
Also tightened up the harmonies a tad.

Thanks Rob.
Laura did three voices to my one.
Glad you enjoyed it.

Hey, Vic:

i’m liking the adjustments—cleaner; harmonies are crisper. Nicely done. And with whatever you’ve done, the delay (not the reverb—my bad) sounds so much better—haunting. Near night and day for me vs. the prior version. Really well done.

Best regards,

Deej

Thanks, Deej.
Just dialled down the delay a tad and synced the harmonies in my daw.
Glad it works.

Hi Vic,

What a cool song, great one for a duet. I like the quick back and forths. Laura is a powerful singer with a unique style of her own--very cool, love her voice. Not sure if you're out of production, but one sug I would offer on a duet like this is to pan her about 20% right and you about 25% left giving a little more separation yet a "back and forth" feel. A little more compression or manually backing off a couple DB slightly in a few spots with Laura, she's a strong singer--JMO. I also loved the tone of the guitar solo--that added a nice song break. Just some polish sugs, use or lose, well done however!

Hi Ed. Sorry I haven't replied sooner. Been a bit tied up so missed this one.
I did actually pan the harmony vocals but not the lead vocals.
Perhaps I'll revisit when things have calmed down a bit.

Thanks for the suggs.
