Douglas,
A nice folk sound to this. From a production standpoint, I think the reverb/echo can be dialed down on the vocal. Lyrically, the second version of the chorus seems to resonate most with me personally, and you might consider staying with that throughout the song—each line just seems more consistent with the song’s theme. And then you might be able to drop the fourth chorus. But of course all that’s just my humble opinion for you to consider—go with what feels right to you. Anyways, it’s a nice start—will look forward to hearing the finished product.
Best regards,
Deej

We like it! I do agree that the vocal has a bit much reverb. As we all know know panning gives you left and right but reverb brings things closer to the front. With a vocal already mixed out front a bit less verb might help it sit in the mix better. FWIW!!!!

I enjoyed the tune. I also agree with the Reverb comments. I really think this song would work great as a simple folk song. Lyrically and musically. I thought the crunch electric rhythm guitar that came in seemed a bit out of place for the vibe of the song. I can imagine this just acoustic guitar and vocal and it being even more enjoyable.

Hello Doug, Good to see ya back in here with another one. The reverb has already been addressed, other than that, good job. Calvin http://www.soundclick.com/bands/0/calvinstewart

Doug, you said this is new so I'm not sure how much re-writing you've already done but I think, with a little more thought, you could have something that could raise the consciousness of your listeners. As is, there are a lot of broad strokes but nothing specific, no imagery, just statements of facts. It's a song saying only that there are good things and bad things happening in the world but you don't tell us what they are and you question the whats and whys. Then you say highs and lows are what life is made of. Well, that pretty much answers the question, right? Ups and downs, death, life, hatred and love...in a nutshell, that's pretty much life as a human on planet earth. I guess what I'm wondering is, in one sentence, what do you see as the point of this song? What should my take away be? Once you know, then focus on that, show us what the point is and make us care about it. Just my 2 cents worth.

Hi Doug...you make a lot of statements. The song might have more impact if you show rather than tell.

Good theme Doug which you have covered well. Not exactly a party song but one to listen too and think about instead John
